ANGLE TO RAW
JUNE 13, 2005
One week after RAW landed the WWE Champion, John Cena, in the first round of the
Draft Lottery, another huge name was selected to start competing on Monday
nights when Kurt Angle was announced as the newest member of the RAW roster.
Triple H, with Ric Flair by his side, was quick to point out to Angle that RAW
was The Game’s show, and that just because he was selected in the Draft Lottery
doesn’t give him the right to do whatever he wants. Angle took great exception
to Triple H’s comments, telling him that he will not take a backseat to anybody.
Angle’s strong comments were not just directed at The Game, he was also
referring to Batista. In fact, to prove that he was not going to take a backseat
to anybody, Angle agreed to face Batista next week on RAW.
Immediately after Angle and Batista agreed to face each other, Shawn Michaels’
music rocked the arena. Upset that everybody was getting what they wanted but
him, HBK proposed a WrestleMania 21 rematch with Angle for Vengeance. Once again
proving that he refuses to take a backseat to anybody, Angle accepted. Then,
rather than waiting for his upcoming scheduled matches, Angle attacked HBK. This
sparked a chain reaction. Before long, Triple H and Ric Flair were going at it
with World Heavyweight Champion Batista.
In other championship news, Eric Bischoff announced that Christian would
challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship at Vengeance. This announcement did
not sit well with former Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho, as he felt he
deserved an opportunity at Cena’s championship. Upset that he did not get the
nod to challenge for the WWE Championship, Y2J attacked Cena – his tag team
partner for the evening – after their successful match against Christian and
Tyson Tomko. The attack was clearly a personal issue that opened Bischoff’s
eyes. As a result, Jericho will now also compete for the WWE Championship at
Vengeance in a Triple Threat Match.
Elsewhere on RAW, Stone Cold Steve Austin presided over the hearing of Muhammad
Hassan and Daivari. Much to the fans' dismay, Stone Cold actually sided with
Hassan and Daivari, saying that they have been screwed by the system. In an
attempt to make things right, Stone Cold then called for an Intercontinental
Championship match with Hassan challenging Shelton Benjamin for the title. To
ensure no wrongdoings would mar the outcome of the match, Stone Cold served as
the Special Enforcer. When Hassan delivered a low blow to the champ, however,
Stone Cold hit the ring on a mission. Unable to stand for Hassan’s dastardly
tactics, Stone Cold stomped a mud hole in the challenger and Daivari.
Lita had two monumental announcements for the RAW crowd Monday night. First, the
fiery redhead told Snitsky that she agrees with him – the loss of her baby was
not his fault. Rather, she said, it was Kane’s. Lita went as far as to thank
Snitsky with a big kiss. Lita then announced that she would be getting married
to Edge next week on RAW.
Also on RAW, Sgt. Slaughter answered the Master Lock Challenge. Despite putting
up a great effort, the former WWE Champion fell victim to Chris Masters’
devastating finisher.
Also, Viscera, with Lilian Garcia in his corner, defeated Maven with a sit-down
powerbomb.
