Interview: Jeff Jarrett
The self proclaimed "chosen one" made his way to the
ring, cocky as ever. Jarrett grabbed the microphone from Mean
Gene, or "slapnuts" as he was affectionately referred
to. Jarrett challenged Dustin Rhodes to a bunkhouse match at
Starrcade. As Jeff threatened Gene with the guitar, Mike Tenay
came to the ring, saying that someone needed to take control in
WCW. As the "chosen one" backed off from Tenay's
lawsuit innuendoes, Tenay turned around just in time to be
blindsided by Jarrett and put in the figure-four leglock.
Goldberg ran in for the save, running Jarrett out of the ring.
Backstage, Tony Marinara scolded Big Vito and Johnny the Bull for their actions over the last week.
Backstage, Curt Hennig and Curly Bill stood before the Powers That Be as Bill gave Russo his new gimmick idea. The boss liked it and Curly Bill walked away from the table with his new gimmick, "Shane." Rhonda Singh approached the desk, asking whom to see for an opportunity.
A clip was shown of Brian Knobs, out in the forest joining Fit Finlay's "boot camp."
Hardcore Title Match
"Screamin" Norman Smiley d. Rhonda Singh
Norman got the mic and said that since Finlay wasn't there,
he was putting out an open challenge to anyone. The music played
and out walked Rhonda Singh. Singh went right to work on Smiley,
smashing him with a trashcan lid, followed by a kendo stick. As
Rhonda screamed to the crowd, Norman bashed a trashcan over her
head, sending her to the mat. She recovered and hit a splash into
the corner. She missed the second, allowing Smiley to set for the
"big wiggle." As he did, Singh blew a fire extinguisher
in his face. Finally, it was Smiley who got the win, retaining
his Hardcore Title.
Backstage, as The Maestro leaned into his piano to tune it, David Flair grabbed Symphony as he knocked the top of the piano onto the pianist's head.
Psychosis and La Parka stood before the Powers That Be and were told that since Juvi couldn't defend his IWGP Title in a rematch against Jushin Liger, that the two of them would fight in his office right then, with the first one out facing Liger. They fought and Psychosis got out the door first.
Bret Hart was shown entering the arena.
Backstage, The Total Package coaxed Elizabeth with champagne into letting him in her dressing room.
IWGP Title Match
Jushin "Thunder" Liger d. Psychosis
Psychosis came to the ring with the IWGP Title over his
shoulder. Buzzkill was shown in the crowd, passing out flowers to
the fans. Liger caught Psychosis with a baseball slide to the
outside followed by a dive from the top to the floor. Psychosis
delivered a dropkick from the top into the ring, sending Liger to
the canvas. Back on the top rope, Liger fell victim to a
huracanrana. Liger recovered and threw a devastating heel kick.
Finally, Jushin rolled up Psychosis with a La Magisterial pinning
combination for the win, once again becoming the IWGP Champion.
After the match, La Parka took a chair over the head of
Psychosis.
Backstage, three of the Nitro Girls were playing poker when Big Vito and Johnny the Bull interrupted them and convinced the Nitro Girls to play strip poker with them.
Backstage, as the "pizza guy" knocked on Tony Marinara's dressing room door, he answered, only to find Lash Leroux and Disco Inferno instead.
Backstage, Total Package tried to convince Elizabeth to come to the ring with him for his match against Bret Hart later in the night.
Backstage, The Maestro stumbled around, screaming for Symphony, who was taken by David Flair.
Interview: Mona
Mona told Mean Gene to look at her FACE when he talked to her.
She said she would defeat Evan Karagias and Madusa tonight in the
three-way dance.
Madusa d. Evan Karagias and
Mona
Madusa and Karagias came to the ring together. As the ladies
started the match, Karagias joined Tony and Bobby at ringside.
Madusa was in control from the beginning, but as Mona took over,
Karagias came in to pull her off. As he did this, Madusa rolled
him up and got the three count, earning herself a shot at the
Cruiserweight Title at Starrcade. After the match, Jeff Jarrett
came into the ring, threw Evan out, and smashed the guitar over
Madusa's head. He got the mic and challenged Goldberg to a match
for later in the program.
Backstage, Lash and Disco had Tony Marinara tied up in a chair, yelling for help.
Backstage, as Elizabeth appeared to make up with The Total Package, she took the champagne and poured it over his head, obviously not ready to reconcile just yet.
The Maestro continued to yell through the halls, looking for Symphony.
Interview: Vampiro and Jerry
Only
Vampiro told Mean Gene that he and Only would teach Dr. Death and
Oklahoma a lesson.
Oklahoma and Dr. Death Steve
Williams d. Jerry Only and Vampiro
Oklahoma came to the ring with an announcer's headset on, saying
he would call the match as he wrestled. Oklahoma was in, but
quickly tagged out to Doc as Vampiro came toward him. As Vampiro
was on the mat, Oklahoma tagged back in, and after some help from
Dr. Death, applied a spinning toehold. On the outside, Oklahoma
took a chair over the back of Jerry Only. Oklahoma took his boot
off and nailed Vampiro with it as he went to the top rope. Dr.
Death powerslammed Vampiro down and Oklahoma dropped an elbow
from the bottom rope for the win.
Backstage, Tony Marinara was still tied up, ready to be tarred and feathered by Disco and Leroux.
Bret Hart and Total Package were shown walking the halls, making their way to the ring.
Interview: Kevin Nash and Scott
Hall
Nash told Gene that he would take out Chris Benoit before he
could make it to his match with Scott Hall at Starrcade.
WCW World Title Match
Bret Hart d. The Total Package
As the arrogant Package pulled off his warm-up clothes, Hart
attacked him, taking it to the floor from the start. The Hitman
worked over Package until a whip into the guardrail was reversed,
sending Hart crashing instead. Back in the ring, Hart went to
work on Luger's left leg, dropping continuous elbows across the
knee area. Elizabeth came to ringside, but was stopped by Sting
who asked her if she was with him or Package. She turned and left
with Sting, and as Package looked on in disbelief, Hart caught
him with a Russian leg sweep, followed by a Sharpshooter for the
win.
Backstage, Midnight was shown walking around looking for Stevie Ray and Booker T.
Backstage, the Powers That Be made La Parka their official "chairman," telling him to stand in the corner and when the boss cracks his knuckles, to take the chair over the back of whoever is standing in front of the table. Harlem Heat came to the table and, after being granted a tag team title shot at Starrcade, were attacked by Creative Control and La Parka.
Roddy Piper arrived at the arena in a limousine, making cracks about Vince Russo as he walked in.
David Flair was shown in the basement, holding his hand over Symphony's mouth while he rocked back and forth.
Interview: Jerry Flynn
Flynn told Mean Gene that he would take on two men in his
specialty match down in the block.
Asya with The Revolution vs.
Midnight - No Contest
Shane took the mic and after running down the crowd, revealed the
new flag of The Revolution. Asya attacked Midnight at the bell.
They went at it for a few minutes until The Revolution hit the
ring and beat on Midnight with the flag. Jim Duggan ran in for
the save, but was beat down as well. Douglas and Malenko draped
the Revolution flag over Duggan.
Backstage, Larry Zbyszko asked road agent Mike Graham if he knew anything about the urgent meeting that Larry was called to with the Powers That Be.
Roddy Piper walked the back hallway, complaining about having to wrestle Creative Control.
I Quit Match
Roddy Piper d. Creative Control
Not only was Piper a participant in this match, but he was
the referee as well. Piper got the mic and said that since he was
the ref, he was going to pat them down for any objects. Roddy
also stated that it was an "I Quit" match. Piper kicked
one of them low and raked the other's eyes to start the match.
Creative Control got the better of Piper and as they went for a
double piledriver on a chair, Goldberg ran in for the save,
Jackhammering one of the big men, as Piper made the other one
quit with a belt around his neck. Goldberg told Piper they were
even.
Backstage, Disco and Lash covered Tony Marinara in tar and feathers.
Backstage, Big Vito and Johnny the Bull challenged the Nitro Girls to one final hand of poker: their underwear against the girls' underwear.
Backstage, The Maestro found Symphony's shoe lying on the ground.
Dustin Rhodes vs. Meng - No
Contest
Dustin threw his jacket over the head of Meng and delivered a
series of punches. A bulldog by Rhodes dropped Meng, but the
Tongan monster got right back up. Jeff Jarrett came into the ring
and brawled with Rhodes. As Dustin set Jeff up in the corner for
a field goal kick, The Outsiders hit the ring, attacking Rhodes
and leaving him lying with a powerbomb. Jarrett smashed the
guitar over the head of Meng in the process.
The power that be asked Larry Zbyszko why he thought Thunder sucked so much. Zbyszko said that there were no big stars on Thunder and it was because Russo was putting the show together. Russo told Zbyszko that he would wrestle Curt Hennig later in the night. If Hennig won, then Zbyszko would be fired. If Zbyszko won, then Russo would leave.
In a video clip, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince ... Iaukea was shown with a white dove in hand.
Curt Hennig with
"Shane" d. Larry Zbyszko
Both men came to the ring in street clothes, ready to fight.
Referee Charles Robinson got caught in the corner with a splash
as Hennig took Zbyszko from one corner to the next. Curt
continued to pound on Larry until Zbyszko caught Hennig into his
patented submission hold. Shane came in and hit Larry, but with
the referee still down, Arn Anderson charged the ring, ball bat
in hand, and laid out Hennig and Shane. Robinson woke up and
counted the three-count. Creative Control ran in and pointed to
the instant replay on the screen. Robinson reversed the decision
and awarded the match to Hennig.
Disco and Lash stuffed an apple into the mouth of the tarred and feathered Tony Marinara.
Big Vito and Johnny the Bull had to get up from the table, without their clothes on, to go help Tony.
Chris Benoit d. Kevin Nash
Hall came to ringside with a ladder in hand, promoting his match
with Benoit at Starrcade. He grabbed the extra announcer's
headset and sat at the top of the ladder to commentate the bout.
Benoit was all business, pounding on Nash in the early going. The
Crippler came down twice onto Nash's knee on the rope, but was
kicked over the top to the floor on a third attempt. Nash got a
two and a half count with a big sidewalk slam. Back in control,
Benoit went right back to the knee of Big Sexy. He applied the
Crippler Crossface and Nash tapped out, but as the referee went
to call for the bell, Hall hit him with the ladder. Benoit fought
Hall off and went to the top of the ladder, coming off with a
bodypress onto Hall. Nash attacked with a powerbomb and folded
the ladder up in the ring. Hall put Benoit up for the Outsider's
Edge, but before they could drop him, Sid grabbed The Crippler's
feet, pulling him to safety.
DDP was shown entering the arena.
Big Vito and Johnny the Bull were shown on their way to the ring.
Interview: Sting
Gene asked Sting what the deal was with Elizabeth. Sting said he
didn't know but told Hall not to sing it, to bring it.
Big Vito called out Disco Inferno and Lash Leroux to the ring. As Disco's music started, the two blondes from last week who set up Vito and Johnny, came to the ring. As the girls distracted the two debt collectors, Disco and Leroux attacked from behind. Tony Marinara came out and along with Big V and The Bull the three beat down Disco and Lash and carried them off on their shoulders.
Backstage, The Maestro was shown still looking for Symphony and David Flair.
Backstage, Big Vito and Johnny put Disco and Lash into their car. As the three gloated with each other, Disco and Lash took off in the car.
As Maestro was looking for Symphony, he walked into the block of Jerry Flynn, who put a beating on the blond pianist. Eventually, Flynn and Maestro were both laid out by David Flair and his crowbar, all the while holding Symphony in a headlock telling her to shut up.
Interview: Nick Patrick
Patrick said that anyone who didn't belong at ringside was banned
in the main event. He said that the referees were taking their
power back.
Sting looked over a contract given to him by Elizabeth. He asked her if everything was signed, sealed, and delivered on it.
Sting d. Scott Hall
Liz showed Nick Patrick the contract that stated that she was now
legally Sting's manager. Nash joined the announcers for
commentary. As Nash choked Sting on the outside with the
microphone cord, Nick Patrick threw Big Sexy out and to the back.
The match went back and forth, both men showing why they are at
the top of their game. As Hall went over to Liz, who had come
onto the apron, he crotch chopped at her and got mace in the eyes
for it. Sting charged in with a Stinger Splash and finished the
blinded Hall off with the Scorpion Deathlock for the win.
David Flair, dragging Symphony by the arm, made his way to the ring.
DDP was shown walking down the back hall, on his way to the ring to face Sid.
In the ring, David Flair took the mic and called out The Maestro. DDP's music started and out came the King of Badda Bing. Page charged in and delivered a Diamond Cutter. Page took the mic and addressed some rumors that have been circulating. He said he wasn't trying to get out of his contract and he was staying in WCW. Page said that someone who was close to him hasn't been loyal lately and that he was out for himself.
Sid Vicious vs. DDP - No
Contest
Sid hit the ring and the fight was on. Sid showed why he is one
of the most powerful men in the sport, throwing Page across the
ring. The referee got knocked out of the ring, and Page met a Sid
powerbomb head on. As The Outsiders charged in after Sid, Chris
Benoit ran in for the save. Jeff Jarrett joined the ruckus,
followed by Bret Hart. Security and the referees ran in to break
up the fight. Nick Patrick got the mic and said that the referees
and security were sick of no one listening and they were out of
there, leaving no one to ref the main event.
Lumberjack Match
Goldberg d. Jeff Jarrett
Goldberg charged the ring and Jarrett headed for the aisle.
Piper's music played and out came the rowdy Scot, making it a
lumberjack match and refereeing himself. Jarrett still tried to
leave, but three of the Green Bay Packers hit the stage, blocking
him. In the ring, Goldberg tore Jarrett apart and every time Jeff
would try to roll out, he would get beat up and thrown back in.
Jarrett took a chair over Goldberg's head and back, but the
former Atlanta Falcon kicked out at two. Jarrett brought Goldberg
to his knees with a sleeper, but he couldn't put him away.
Goldberg was hit over the ropes, and while Piper was watching the
action outside, Hart came in and hit Jarrett with the WCW Title.
A Spear and a Jackhammer later, and Goldberg chalked up another
one in the win column.
