WCW Nitro
Phoenix, Arizona
October 26, 1998
Many fans were unable to see Halloween Havoc's awesome main event match between Diamond Dallas Page and Goldberg. After having a series of meetings, WCW execs decided to give fans the event, once again, completely free during Nitro. To prove that the replay truly wasn't a ploy for ratings, the promotion gave fans the enormous bout during the middle hour, instead of at the program's end.
In other news, Scott Hall and the Giant attacked Kevin Nash in the dressing room, Bischoff teased Flair with an in-ring appearance and the Warrior struck revenge on NWO Hollywood.
Match Results
Stevie Ray d. Kenny Kaos
Stevie Ray found out that Kaos had more than just muscle power in
this quick bout, but the High Voltage member never got a chance
to finish fairly. After turning once again on Rick Steiner at
Halloween Havoc, Bagwell brought a blackjack to the ring,
distracted the referee and gave the NWO Enforcer a chance to use
the international object and win. Post-match, Rick Steiner saved
Kaos from a further beating, and offered the rookie a chance to
fight with The Dog-Faced Gremlin as a tag team champ. Kaos
considered his allegiance to Rage, but still accepted the
unbelievable opportunity.
Kanyon with Raven d. Prince
Iaukea
After Kanyon asked the crowd, "Who's better than
Kanyon?" the Raven crony attacked Iaukea when the crowd
responded unfavorably. The Prince remained level-headed and
retook control, but suffered a Flatliner after a quick exchange
of counters.
Alex Wright d. Barry Horowitz
After attaining an impressive win over Fit Finley at HH, Wright
continued his crusade to prove he is Europeís greatest wrestler.
The German Superstar won with the Hangman's Neckbreaker.
Wrath d. Sick Boy
Since Meng's strength seemed ineffective against Wrath last
night, Sick Boy tried the high-flying approach... with similar
results. Wrath grounded the aerialist, and did some
Luchador-style work himself. In the end, Sick Boy came down with
a case of The Meltdown and a loss.
Halloween Havoc Main Event:
Goldberg vs. Diamond Dallas Page
World Heavyweight Title Match
Saturn d. Eddie Guerrero
Due to flight complications, this match had to be delayed until
tonight. An amazing match-up, Saturn and the LWO leader exchanged
some bullying, as well as many high-impact maneuvers. Saturn
looked ready to apply the Death Valley Driver, when the Latino
World Order arrived. After a tough battle, Saturn fell to the
numbers.
Kenny Kaos and Rick Steiner d.
Giant and Stevie Ray
World Tag Team Title Match
Kenny tried to make the best of his break, but found himself a
bit overwhelmed. Rick faired better. With the help of Kaos, The
Dog-Faced Gremlin managed to hit a Steinerdog and take a win.
Kidman d. Juventud Guerrera
Cruiserweight Title Match
This long-time feud only seems to get better with time. Juventud
tried to regain his belt from the former Flocker and utilized
everything from hurracanranas to brain busters to a leg drop DDT.
But Kidman answered everything with brilliant counters and,
finally, a Shooting Star Press.
Lex Luger and Konnan vs. Scott
Hall and Scott Steiner
This battle of NWO factions deteriorated into a brawl before the
bell rang. Between punches and rail shots, Luger set up for his
Torture Rack, but could never take it to completion. The fight
became so savage, the referee eventually called the match;
security was brought down to separate the competitors and clear
the ring.
Diamond Dallas Page d. Bret
Hart
US Title Match
After giving their souls on Sunday, Page and Hart put on another
brutal and even match. The fabric of the match broke apart when
Hart simultaneously hit both Page and the referee with a Down
Under mule kick. Hart tried to use the opportunity to pound DDP
with some brass knuckles, but ended up on the business end of a
Diamond Cutter. Post-match, the Hitman demolished Pageís knee
with a chair and then applied the Scorpion Deathlock. As Nitro
ended, Goldberg ran to the ring to save his Halloween Havoc
opponent.
