Monday Nitro

Metrocantre, Rockford, Illinois
November 27, 2000

One day removed from the explosive Mayhem PPV, and WCW was still going full speed ahead as they charged into Rockford, Illinois for another edition of Monday Nitro. The CEO Ric Flair stated that he had a special challenger for Scott Steiner to face at the Starrcade pay per view in December. After a hard fought title defense against Stevie Ray, Big Poppa Pump came face to face with the man next in line for his title - the former champion, Sid Vicious.

A mock press conference was shown spoofing the announcement of a new president of the United States, ending with Jeff Jarrett taking a guitar over the moderator's head.

Lieutenant Loco and Corporal Cajun d. Sugar Shane Helms and Shannon Moore
Shannon Moore and "Sugar" Shane Helms prepared to dance at the opening of the show, but were interrupted by Lieutenant Loco and Corporal Cajun to start the match. The Misfits worked together to double on Helms and Moore, with a new, harder edge of The MIA becoming more apparent. Cajun was in trouble in the 3 Count corner, as the singing duo doubled teamed behind the referee's back. Loco got the hot tag, but soon it was all four men in the action. Helms went for a pin on Loco, but was pulled from the ring by Jaime Noble and beaten with a ladder on the outside. After the attack by Noble and Evan Karagias, Helms was rolled back into the ring and pinned by Loco for an MIA win.

Backstage, Elix Skipper tried to pick up Ms, Jones. The Cat showed up and told Prime Time that he would take him out any day. Seconds later, Lance Storm knocked Miller to the floor with a chair over the head.

Steiner told the fans to kiss his ass, bragging about his celebration party with his freaks. When Big Poppa said he was looking for a fight, the CEO, Ric Flair came to the stage and congratulated Steiner for winning the title. The Nature Boy went on to tell Steiner that he was going to be face to face later in the show with opponent for Starrcade. Stevie Ray started to charge down the aisle, but was stopped by Flair and WCW security. Booker's brother challenged Steiner to a match, but Scott agreed only if Ray put his career on the line as well. Stevie said he wanted the match, and Flair made it official.

Storm got on the mic and told Rection that somehow, somewhere he was going to get back at him. Yang jumped the former Canadian Champion as the national anthem played, taking advantage of an opportunity while Storm was distracted. Lance gained control and beat Yang to the canvas, but the quick Dragon fought back with several near falls, taking Storm off balance. Outside, a white limousine pulled up to the back door of the arena.

Alex Wright and Ron Harris d. Evan Karagias and Jaime Noble
The Harris Boys came out, with Ron joining Alex in the match as Heavy D sat down at ringside to eat his sandwich. Karagias and Nobler tried to fight against Big Ron, but his strength and power was too much for the youngsters. With Alex back in the ring, Noble tried to set up for a double team move, but Evan was too busy grinding for the fans. As the referee's back was turned, Don slid in and The Harris Boys delivered an H-Bomb to set up Wright for the pin.

Backstage, Ric Flair decreed that Lex Luger pulled Mickey Jay in the way of Goldberg's spear, therefore the Mayhem decision stood as it was. Flair then booked Goldberg to face Luger again at Starrcade.

No Contest - Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page vs. Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire with Mike Sanders
DDP and Nash came into the ring and spoke of their buddy, Scott Hall. The Wolfpac music started again, only this time, it was Mike Sanders, Mark Jindrak, and Sean O' Haire making their way to the stage. The commissioner told the new champions that they would defend their titles against Jindrak and O' Haire at Starrcade, but Page said they didn't have to wait until the PPV. The Thrillers ran in, and the match was on. Big Sexy and The King of Badda Bing tore the rookies apart, but a low blow put DDP on the canvas, and put The Thrillers in control. Page and Nash came back again, with DDP delivering the Diamond Cutter on Jindrak. As the referee went for the count, Sanders pulled him from the ring and laid him out. Nash grabbed the commish, but the rest of The Thrillers arrived and destroyed both Big Sexy and DDP, before walking away with the tag team titles.

Mean Gene Interview: Stevie Ray
Ray told Gene that he was going to tear Big Poppa Pump apart and get revenge for his brother.

Goldberg d. Reno

After the bell, Luger snuck in and blasted Bill with a chair. The Total package applied the Torture Rack on Goldberg until WCW security finally got him to release the hold.

Mean Gene Interview: The Filthy Animals
Rey Mysterio, Jr. started to tell the world what he was going to do to Jeff Jarrett, but Konnan stopped him, stating that they didn't want to get in trouble with the censors. All of the Animals agreed that Rey would take the win over Jarrett later in the show.

WCW US Title Match
General Rection d. Bam Bam Bigelow
Bigelow and Rection slugged it out in the corner, with the General getting the best of the exchange. Bam Bam got Rection to the mat with a front face lock, trying to wear the champion down. Bam Bam came through with a powerbomb and went to the outside for a table. Sgt. A-WALL arrived to take the table away, allowing his General to come down with the big moonsault to retain the title.

Backstage, Mean Gene stopped Scott Steiner on his way to the ring. Big Poppa told the cameraman to follow him to the white limousine, where he opened the door to reveal a parade of ladies. M. I. Smooth told Steiner that the limo was Ric Flair's, but he could get Steiner one if he needed. Big Poppa beat up Smooth before returning to the building.

Disqualification - Rey Mysterio, Jr. with The Filthy Animals d. The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett
Jarrett told Konnan that he had something special for him after he was done with Rey Mysterio. Tygress tripped Jarrett up on the ropes to set Rey for a bulldog to set the tone for the match. Konnan distracted Jeff on the apron, allowing Billy to knock Jeff to the mat for a Mysterio legdrop from the top. The Chosen One put a foot up on the BroncoBuster attempt, sending Rey to the mat in pain. The Animals came back again, with Tygress and Mysterio delivering a double "face full of stuff" in the corner. Finally, Jeff could take no more and smashed his guitar over Rey's head, causing the referee to then call for the disqualification.

WCW World Tile Match
Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner with Midajah d. Stevie Ray
Stevie ran up the aisle and put a beating on the new champion, as Scott was jaw jacking with the fans. Midajah got a shot in on Ray with the steel pipe, changing the tide of the fight. The bell finally rang to start the match as the two rolled into the ring, both giving all they had. Big Poppa used a chair on the challenger, following it up with the Rolling Thunder suplex, sending Ray crashing to the canvas. Stevie caught Steiner coming off the top and delivered a Bookend, gaining a two and a half count on the champion. Ray started to climb the turnbuckle, but Midajah distracted him, allowing Big Poppa to slap on the Steiner Recliner for the win. As the champion started to celebrate, the lights dimmed in the arena as Sid Vicious came to the stage, revealing himself as Steiner's Starrcade opponent.
