Monday Nitro

Augusta, Georgia
November 20, 2000

With just six days to go until the Mayhem pay per view, the stars of WCW were already to fight as Nitro rolled back into the states, stopping in Augusta, Georgia. Mike Sanders and Ric Flair took tuns booking matches and stipulations. Sanders' biggest move of the night was granting Lex Luger a shot at the WCW Title. Flair on the other hand, was a step ahead, as he booked Goldberg's next victim - Sanders himself.

A clip from Germany was shown of Alex Wright defeating Sean O' Haire and Mark Jindrak to win the WCW Tag Team Championships.

Backstage, as Lex Luger asked Mike Sanders for a favor, The Natural Born Thrillers entered the office, telling the commissioner that Sean O' Haire had been attacked in the hallway. After checking on O' Haire, Sanders returned to his office, booking The Perfect Event against Alex Wright and a partner of Mike's choosing for the tag team titles, and Booker T one on one against Lex Luger for the WCW Title.

Jaime Noble d. Yang with Leia Meow
Yang, joined by the beautiful Leia Meow, charged into the ring against his former tag team partner. The two battled back and forth, before things got heated, causing Yang to bring a chair into the ring. Mark Johnson stopped him before he could use it however, but Leia Meow got in on the action instead, delivering a huracanrana to Noble off the apron to the outside. Evan Karagias came to ringside, but was stopped and beaten by Shannon Moore and "Sugar" Shane Helms. In the end, Noble rolled up Yang with a surprise sunset flip pin. Moore and Helms attacked the two after the match, but Karagias ran in, joining Noble in clearing the ring.

Backstage, The Nature Boy Ric Flair told Lex Luger that he would "do the right thing" later in the show.

Backstage, Alex Wright asked KroniK to do him a favor, but was turned away for not having any money. Wright was then pelted with snowballs by The Filthy Animals, who stated that Alex wouldn't have the belts for long.

Interview: Ric Flair
Flair got the Augusta crowd riled up, teasing Tony Schiavone before giving kudos to the Georgia women. The Nature Boy said that if Lex Luger defeated Booker for the title, Flair would make Luger's match against Goldberg at Mayhem for the belt, lifting the "streak" clause in Goldberg's title chase. Jeff Jarrett came to the stage, claiming that he was the father of Stacey Kiebler's baby. David Flair came to the stage and Jarrett gave him step by step details of the night back in June when he got together with Stacey in Baltimore. After getting the Flairs all riled up, The Chosen One retracted the story and slammed his guitar over David's head. Buff Bagwell came out and scuffled with Jarrett until WCW security broke things up.

Backstage, Kevin Nash asked road agent Fit Findlay to let the Thrillers know that he was there and not alone.

Pamela Paulshock Interview: Team Canada
Skipper told Paulshock that he was chosen to be Alex Wright's tag team partner. Lance Storm said he was stepping in to team with Jim Duggan to take on Meng and Kwee Wee.

WCW World Tag Team Title Match
The Perfect Event d. Alex Wright and "Prime Time" Elix Skipper
Wright jumped all over Shawn Stasiak, keeping the advantage even after Palumbo was tagged in. The Perfect Event doubled up on Alex, looking to regain the titles and bring them back to The Thrillers. Prime Time and Palumbo fought on the outside as Wright went to the top and delivered the missile dropkick on Stasiak. Billy Kidman ran in behind the referee's back and gave Wright the Kid Krusher, setting "PerfectShawn" up for the pin and the victory to take the gold.

In a pre-taped segment, Mancow attacked Jimmy Hart, Shannon Moore, and Shane Helms with a trashcan.

Pamela Paulshock Interview: Meng and Kwee Wee with Paisley
Kwee Wee told Pamela that he was stepping out of his tag team match, putting General Rection in his place against Team Canada. The General told Storm to "lock and load."

Backstage, Mike Sanders told Mark Jindrak that he was putting Kwee Wee in a match against Goldberg.

Backstage, Big Vito attacked Reno with his stickball stick.

At ringside, Doug Dellinger and WCW security argued with the Battle Dome warriors, who had tickets at ringside for the Nitro show.

Pamela Paulshock Interview: Alex Wright
Wright told Paulshock that he and DISQO were taking matters into their own hands, challenging The Filthy Animals to a handicapped match at Mayhem.

Interview: Rick Steiner
Steiner came out with the Battle Dome belt and challenged T-Money from Battle Dome to a match. Money ran in, but soon it was four on one, as the other BD warriors joined in to beat the Dog Faced Gremlin to the mat.

Backstage, Reno demanded Sanders to book him against Big Vito later in the show.

Backstage, General Rection rallied The MIA troops, gearing up for his match.

Interview: "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash
Big Sexy told Mike Sanders that he had a partner that he could trust and wanted a shot against The Perfect Event's tag team titles. Sanders came out and told Nash that he could have his shot, but was alone at that moment, making him SOL. The Thrillers ran in and attacked Nash, prompting DDP to run in for the save. Page gave Jindrak the Diamond Cutter and celebrated with Nash in the ring.

Pamela Paulshock Interview: "The Total Package" Lex Luger
Luger told Goldberg to "do the right thing" later to get his title shot as Lex faced off against Booker T for the WCW gold.

Meng and General Rection d. Lance Storm and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan with Major Gunns and "Prime Time" Elix Skipper
Storm got on the Americans for not having a president elect yet, suggesting that they all become Canadian. Meng pounded on Storm until Duggan hit the Tongan monster with his 2 X 4. Team Canada has Meng in trouble briefly, but finally made the hot tag to Rection. Elix Skipper used the flagpole on Rection, but the rest of The MIA ran out to even up the sides, allowing the General to roll up Duggan for the 1-2-3.

Backstage, Jeff Jarrett and "The Franchise" Shane Douglas spoke in the hallway.

Bill Goldberg d. Kwee Wee with Paisley
Mike Sanders joined the announcers at ringside, depressed about the newly formed tag team of Kevin Nash and DDP. Sanders said that he had a big surprise for Kwee Wee, and the world found out just what it was when Goldberg's music blared throughout the arena, bringing the Augusta crowd to their feet. Kwee Wee put the boots to Bill, but as he jumped off the second rope, Goldberg nearly speared him in half, following up with a Jackhammer for the win. Goldberg scolded Sanders after the match for not fighting his own battles, but as Bill went to leave, Ric Flair returned to ringside. The CEO told the commissioner that since he seemed to have a problem being the commissioner and a wrestler at the same time, Flair was making Sanders "next," calling for a match on the spot with Sanders against Goldberg.

Bill Goldberg d. "Above Average" Mike Sanders
Sanders was taken down hard with a pump handle slam before falling victim to the spear and Jackhammer combination for an easy Goldberg win.

Pamela Paulshock Interview: Booker T
The champion said Luger and his 4% body fat meant nothing to him. Booker said he didn't care if it was Luger, Goldberg, or Steiner - he was going to prevail in the end.

Buff Bagwell d. "The Franchise" Shane Douglas with Torrie Wilson
Torrie and Shane made fun of the fans in Augusta, bringing the irate crowd to their feet. Douglas told The Cat he wanted a match against him at the Mayhem PPV, but was ready right then for his bout against his former partner, Buff Bagwell. Buff Daddy was in complete control against Shane until Torrie grabbed for Bagwell's leg, allowing Shane to attack from behind. The Franchise delivered a piledriver, continuing to work over the vulnerable neck of Buff. Shane applied the Pittsburgh Plunge, but Bagwell kicked out, getting his second wind. Torrie came onto the apron to distract, but was knocked off inadvertently by Shane. Jeff Jarrett stopped Buff as he went to the top, but The Cat pulled Jarrett away, giving Bagwell the chance to drop down with the Blockbuster for the pinfall. After the match, The Cat and Ms. Jones danced to the delight of the Augusta fans.

Interview: "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner
Steiner padded his eyes with tissues, as he feigned sadness over Sting's injury. Big Poppa told The Stinger that he was given fair warning to walk away, but did not heed it, and instead paid the price. Steiner told Ric Flair that he had no right to change the stipulation in the title match later in the show, accusing the CEO of trying to rob Big Poppa of his title shot. Scott ended by telling Booker that he was going down in defeat at the Mayhem PPV.

WCW World Title Match
Booker T d. "The Total Package" Lex Luger
Scott Steiner said he was at ringside to guarantee that Booker walked out as the champion. The Total Package worked over the champion's back, but Booker came through with a scissors kick and a spinarooni. Goldberg came to ringside and was met head on by Big Poppa, who raked Bill's eyes before being pulled away by WCW security. Goldberg entered the ring and speared Luger, setting Booker to cover The Package for the win. Steiner jumped T after the bout as Nitro came to a close.
