Monday Nitro
Sky Reach Place,
Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada
August 14, 2000
After walking out on his #1 contenders shot last night at New Blood Rising, Bill Goldberg arrived to Monday Nitro, ready to face anything Vince Russo had in store. While Goldberg made himself a hit list for the night, Lance Storm was busy creating an army of sorts. With Jacques Rougeau, Carl Oulette, and Prime Time by his side, Storm declared war on the United States - with the first casualty being Mike Awesome.
Interview: Vince Russo
The show opened with Vince Russo and Tank Abbott standing in
the ring. Russo said he came there to fire Bill Goldberg, but
Brad Siegel would not allow him to because the fans like Goldberg
too much. Since the higher ups put a stop to the termination,
Russo demanded Goldberg to come to the ring and fight Tank, man
to man. When the former champion refused, Russo told the
producers to go to a break.
Back from commercial, Russo screamed on the announcer's headset for the producer in the truck to show the fight. When the camera switched, Bill Goldberg and Tank Abbott were in the heat of battle, with the former world champion getting the better of the fight. Russo taunted Goldberg as he placed Tank in an arm bar submission hold, prompting Bill to come after the boss, tipping over the announcer's table. Schiavone, Hudson, and Madden headed for safer ground as Goldberg called for the fight to stop.
After another break, the announcers returned to ringside, introducing the show as they wondered what had just transpired.
Billy Kidman and Big Vito d.
Reno and "The Franchise" Shane Douglas with
Torrie Wilson
As the fans booed away at The Franchise, Douglas warned them
not to piss him off. Shane called Reno to the ring to help him
get a piece of Kidman. Billy arrived, but not alone, as Big Vito
joined him for the tag team contest. Vito and Billy charged the
ring and immediately brought the fight to the ringside floor. As
Vito was double-teamed inside the ring, Kidman chased Torrie on
the floor. Reno came through with a "Roll the Dice,"
but a Big Vito elbow drop broke up the pin. In the end, it was
the Italian hero getting the pinfall win over Reno. After the
bell, Douglas attempted to handcuff Billy to the top rope, but
Vito intervened, locking The Franchise to the rope instead. The
Perfect Event, along with Jindrak and O' Haire hit the ring,
stomping Vito and Kidman into the mat.
Backstage:
Interview: David Flair
Flair walked to the ring, covered in dried mud, ready to tell
the world what was wrong. He babbled about wanting Stacey to be
ok. Backstage, Major Gunns looked on sadly, wanting the MIA guys
to watch the interview with her. As they were busy playing cards,
she headed to the ring. Gunns told Flair that she was sorry for
what happened to Hancock, saying she kicked her in the stomach
during the R.O.T.C. Match. When Flair grabbed Gunns, demanding to
know what happened, Hancock came to the ring, telling David that
she was fine -- and pregnant. Flair's sadness soon turned to joy
as he bounced off the ropes and did the famous Flair strut before
embracing the mom to be.
Backstage, Hancock and Flair embraced, celebrating over the good news.
Canadian Title Match
Lance Storm d. Mike Awesome
The Canadian champion for the second night in a row prepared
to speak to his home country. Excited to finally wrestle for some
real wrestling fans, he invited the entire building to rise to
their feet for the playing of the Canadian national anthem. The
Cat interrupted the ceremony, enraging the Canadian crowd. Miller
berated the audience and called Storm an "ugly Power
Ranger." The commissioner booked Lance to wrestle Mike
Awesome again, only this time, Miller made himself the special
referee. Awesome charged the ring, getting the battle of the
homelands underway. The challenger took Storm to task outside the
ring with a steel chair, but the man from Calgary came back
strong. Jacques Rougeau came in and disposed of The Cat, taking
over as the referee. Awesome took exception to the ref change,
but was hit from behind by yet another Canadian intruder, Carl
Oulette, who, along with Rougeau, squashed Awesome into the
canvas with a double-team flip from the top rope. Storm applied
the half crab, but Miller threw karate kicks all around. The
rookie "Prime Time" Elix Skipper entered and jumped the
commissioner, allowing Rougeau to call for the bell and a Lance
Storm win.
Pamela Paulshock Interview:
Team Canada
Lance Storm formed his new army to go to war against the
United States. He gave the Saskatchewan Hardcore International
Title to Oulette, and presented the 100 Kilogram and Under Title
to Prime Time. The Cat arrived, with baseball bat in hand, to
crash the party, telling the new champions that they would defend
their new gold later in the show.
WCW World Heavyweight Title
Match
No Contest - Jeff Jarrett vs. Booker T
Jarrett came to the ring for his final shot at the WCW
championship. Nowhere near 100%, Booker T fought hard against The
Chosen One, using everything he had to survive in the ring.
Jarrett brought his guitar into the mix, but before using it, was
stopped by a Bookend attempt. Blocking Booker's finisher, Jarrett
dropped the six-stringer, and T found it, swinging at Jeff, but
catching referee Mickey Jay instead. Charles Robinson arrived as
the second ref, allowing the bout to continue. Jarrett used The
Stroke on the WCW champion, but as he went for the cover, was
pulled from the ring by Goldberg, who threw The Chosen One into
the crowd about three rows deep. Goldberg took the mic, telling
Russo that he got one, but had two more to go, claiming that
Vince was next.
Pamela Paulshock Interview: Big
Poppa Pump
Scott Steiner told Goldberg that he was afraid of Big Poppa,
proving it at the PPV by running away. He went on to tell Kevin
Nash what he was going to do with his fist and Nash's backside.
Saskatchewan Hardcore
International Title Match
"Screamin" Norman Smiley d. Carl "The Rave"
Oulette
Oulette defended his newly given title against the former
champ, "Screamin" Norman Smiley. The Rave worked Smiley
over outside the ring, taking Norman down with a tope to the
floor. Smiley made a comeback on the champion, setting up and
delivering the big wiggle, before getting caught with a low blow.
The Rave set up a table in the ring and set Smiley on top,
preparing to fly from the top. Oulette missed the move, and was
covered, unintentionally by Norman, who was awarded the title. He
refused, throwing it back to the referee.
Backstage, as The Cat, with his "assistant," pondered over who he could have face Prime Time, Papaya stood in her dressing room, primping Kwee Wee.
Pamela Paulshock Interview:
Kevin Nash
Kevin Nash wondered why Vince Russo took his #1 contenders
spot away, saying that his buddy, Scott Hall was still sitting
home waiting for another chance. Big Sexy vetoed the new match
for the #1 spot, saying that if he didn't wrestle Booker for the
title, he was taking the night off.
WCW World Tag Team Title Match
The Juice and Rey Mysterio, Jr. with The Filthy Animals d. The
Great Muta and Vampiro with The Demon
Konnan talked smack on Kronic until they came to the ringside
area. As the match got going, The Harris Brothers arrived, and
they fought with Kronic through the crowd and out of the arena.
Konnan took over at the table for color commentary as Vampiro and
Muta worked over the leg of Mysterio, putting their size
advantage to good use. Juvi made the hot tag, sending Vamp and
Muta from pillar to post, until the champions stopped him dead in
his tracks. After the Nail in the Coffin and the Dragon Screw Leg
Whip, The Animals were all but finished when, suddenly, the
lights began to flicker and Sting hit the ring, laying out The
Dark Carnival with his black bat. The lights came back on and,
three seconds later, Juvi and Mysterio were the new champions.
Backstage, The Dark Carnival demanded a Four Corners Match with The Demon, Vampiro, Muta, and Sting. The Cat agreed, stating that he wanted to see them get their asses kicked again.
100 Kilogram and Under Title
Match
"Prime Time" Elix Skipper d. Kwee Wee with Papaya
Kwee Wee stepped into the ring for his first ever title
match. Prime Time had the Canadian crowd on his side, but that
didn't stop the violent wardrobe designer from laying into
Skipper in the corner of the ring. After a counter that sent Kwee
Wee out of the ring, Prime Time crashed onto his opponent with a
huge dive from the inside to the floor. Skipper reversed a suplex
attempt, and placed a big ring onto his finger. Papaya continued
to come onto the apron for distraction, but in the end, Prime
Time got the victory after using the ring as a weapon. Kwee Wee
punched referee Jamie Tucker in the head after the bout.
Backstage, as Sting made his way to the ring, Goldberg was shown looking around the back hallway.
Four Corners match
Sting d. Vampiro and The Great Muta and The Demon
Sting worked over The Demon in the ring, but soon was
outnumbered as Vamp and Muta entered the fray. The Stinger fought
back and placed Muta in the Scorpion Death Lock. As Vampiro
entered with a kendo stick, The Demon told him he wanted to
finish Sting off, taking the weapon. Demon clobbered Vamp
instead, as Muta tapped out from the Death Lock, scoring The
Stinger the victory. Torborg and Sting had a stare down, but were
attacked by The Dark Carnival and Sting was brought up the ramp
and to the back.
Backstage, The Demon saved Sting from a Dark Carnival attack in the dressing room.
Interview: Kevin Nash
Nash came to the ring with a big cardboard box, taking the
mic in hand. As the fans chanted "We Want Hall," Nash
said he did too, but WCW had deemed him too dangerous. Big Sexy
pulled out a cardboard cutout of Hall and conducted an interview
with his partner. After a "survey" showed that everyone
wanted Hall back, Nash called Booker out for a match. The WCW
champion came out, but was drilled with the lead pipe in the back
by Big Poppa Pump. Nash got hit as well, but before Steiner could
finish the job, Goldberg appeared on the big screen, holding
Midajah by the back of her head. He delivered a Jackhammer
through the table as Poppa ran to the back, only to find Midajah
out cold, and Goldberg nowhere to be found.
