Monday Nitro

Charleston, West Virginia
July 3, 2000

Even though Eric Bischoff told the commissioner to keep Kevin Nash and Goldberg out of the ring, The Cat booked a battle royal with the two as participants in his endless pursuit of ratings. After all, what would the chances be that they would actually be left in the ring together with 18 others in to head them off? Commissioner Miller had it all under control - or so he thought.

Backstage, The Cat spoke with Eric Bischoff on the phone, telling the boss that he suspended Scott Steiner for a week for using the Steiner Recliner. Mike Awesome appeared, asking Miller if he made the call.

Outside, four ambulances sat outside the arena.

Tank Abbott came out and chased DJ Ran away from the booth. He said he was "DJ Tank" and asked the Charleston crowd if they wanted to hear the best. With that, he introduced 3 Count, who came to the ring and performed their song and dance routine. The Jung Dragons hit the ring, and the opening match was on.

3 Count and Tank Abbott d. The Jung Dragons
As the six men went at it, "Sugar" Shane injured his shoulder and was escorted to the back by trainer Danny Young. Tank, seeing that the odds were unfair, joined Shannon Moore on the apron, entering himself into the contest. A series of dives out of the ring occurred, but as Yang attempted to fly, Tank cut him off, delivering the KO punch. Karagias slid back into the ring and got the 1-2-3 for the victory. After the bell, Tank demanded Moore and Karagias to dance, as he joined along on the outside atop his "dancing square."

Backstage, Kevin Nash arrived to the arena.

Backstage, The Cat told The Jung Dragons that he had a proposition for them.

Backstage, Goldberg arrived to the building.

Backstage, Mike Awesome picked up a crewmember and Awesome Bombed him through a concession table.

A special video aired, paying tribute to "The Outsiders." As the video played, Goldberg entered the production truck, demanding for it to stop. Kevin Nash took exception and headed out of his dressing room.

Interview: Goldberg
The hired gun said he had heard enough of The Outsiders talk, calling Hall and Nash two "big pieces of garbage." He stated that he carried the company on his shoulders for two years, but got no appreciation back from the fans. Goldberg told the fans in the arena and at home that Hall and Nash's blood was on their hands. The Wolfpac music played, and Big Sexy came to the stage. He asked Goldberg why they had to wait, challenging him to a fight right there. As the two headed for a collision in the aisle, R&B Security cut them off, and The Cat rushed out, screaming to production to cut to a commercial.

During the commercial, Mike Awesome powerbombed an R&B Security guard on the ringside floor. The guard was taken away in an ambulance.

Backstage, The Cat told Eric Bischoff on the phone that he had everything under control.

Hardcore Match
Johnny the Bull d. Terry Funk
Backstage, Terry Funk told Johnny to grab the trashcan in the corner for his upcoming match. As The Bull reached for the can, Funk blasted him with a chair, starting this hardcore match. The Funker slapped Johnny around in the ring, giving him his final lesson before the Hardcore Title match at the Bash against Big Vito. On the outside, Bull kicked a chair into Terry's face, taking over in this no holds barred brawl. They fought into the crowd, where Johnny piledrove Funk onto a steel chair. Johnny did a legdrop from the top rope to the floor onto Funk's head, which had a chair across it. Back in the ring, Johnny attempted to put Funk away, but the legend continued to kick out until a DDT on a chair finally ended the bout, giving The Bull his much needed win on the way to the Bash at the Beach.

From earlier in the day, as Asya rehearsed a new entrance to the ring, an explosion went off, sending her off the stage to the floor below.

Backstage, Dale Torborg arrived to the arena, saying he was just dropping his stuff off before going back to the hospital. A man in a black hooded robe handed him the Demon costume, which Torborg agreed to wear with the nod of his head. As he walked away, the Sting face was revealed to be just a Sting mask, as Vampiro came from under the hood. In the background, another hooded stranger appeared, watching Vampiro.

Backstage, Goldberg told Commissioner Cat that if he didn't get Nash's head on a platter, The Cat would be next.

General Rection and Corporal Cajun with Major Gunns d. Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire
The winners of this match would get a shot at the tag team championship next week on Nitro. Jindrak and O'Haire worked great together, controlling the bout over the much more experienced MIA. Cajun made the hot tag to General Rection, who dropped the rookies hard and fast. After a setup from by Corporal Cajun, Rection delivered his patented moonsault from the top for the win. After the bout, "Perfectshawn" Stasiak and "The Event" Chuck Palumbo hit the ring, dropping everyone with the Lex Flexer. The rest of the MIA made the save and soon it was human pinball, with the tag team champions playing the part of the balls. As Major Gunns ripped her Bombs Away shirt, the MIA, O'Haire, and Jindrak hit the deck, each wanting to be revived by the bombshell.

Backstage, The Cat told Kevin Nash that Goldberg took off in a limo, so Big Sexy could have the night off. Nash told the commish that if he didn't make the match happen, he would wish he were never born.

Backstage, Mike Awesome continued to destroy crew workers with the Awesome Bomb.

Backstage, The Cat told Eric Bischoff that Nash and Goldberg demanded a match for Nitro. After a few moments, Miller seemed to come up with an idea, telling the boss he would call him back.

Interview: Jeff Jarrett
The Chosen One declared himself the greatest WCW Champion of all time. Jarrett said that when he was a little slapnut, his grandfather used to go to the matches to watch Hulk Hogan wrestle. The champion called out three heavy women, saying he was holding auditions for "the fat lady to sing" at the Bash at the Beach. A representative from Standards and Practices came to the ring to stop the insults, but was treated to a guitar shot, courtesy of The Chosen One. The Cat came to the ring and demanded the attention from the Charleston crowd, bumping into the WCW champion on the way. He told Nash and Goldberg that they could have their match later in the show, but 18 others would join them in a battle royal.

Backstage, The Cat and Jeff Jarrett argued about their altercation moments before.

Booker T d. "The Franchise" Shane Douglas
Kanyon attacked Booker as he made his way to the ring, as The Franchise distracted the referee. The New Blood members worked together to keep Booker grounded, with DDK outside the ring during the match. T fired back with a Harlem sidekick, followed by a spinarooni. Douglas and Kanyon collided on the apron, allowing Booker to score the pin. After the match, Kanyon and The Franchise destroyed T, leaving him laying as they gloated to the crowd.

Backstage, The Demon sat in full makeup, awaiting his match.

Backstage, The Cat told the locker room to get Nash and Goldberg out of the ring, saying that bonuses would be in order.

The Demon d. Vampiro
The Demon charged the ring, ready to exact revenge for the past few weeks. Vamp headed him off, however, sending Torborg reeling to the canvas. Vampiro missed a legdrop from the top, allowing Demon to make his move. Several men in black hooded robes, wearing Sting masks surrounded the ringside area, distracting Vampiro long enough for The Demon to deliver the Love Gun slam for the win. As Torborg headed to the back, the hooded strangers surrounded the dark angel in the ring. The lights went out, and when they returned, Vamp was gone.

Backstage, the commissioner told the other locker room to make sure they got Nash and Goldberg out of the ring or he would fire all of them.

Backstage, Smooth told The Filthy Animals that he had a plan for them.

Backstage, David Flair tried to talk Daffney out of wrestling Miss Hancock at the Bash. All the while, Flair tried to block the monitor as Hancock entered the ring in her wedding gown. In the ring, as Hancock danced away, Crowbar slid in and threatened to shave the head of the blonde princess if Flair didn't come out. As David watched from the back, he feigned a stomachache, telling Daffney to get medicine. He headed to the ring, but Daffney followed, delivering a low blow and dumping the pink liquid medicine over his head. Hancock broke free and tackled Daffney to the ground, but Crowbar pulled her away. David dropped Crowbar with a steel chair and, along with Hancock, cut the hair from Daffney's head. They put the clippers in Crowbar's hand and when Daffney came to, she believed it was her friend that did the damage.

During the commercial, as Crowbar followed Daffney to the back, Mike Awesome attacked him, delivering an Awesome Bomb through a table. Backstage, as Crowbar refused medical attention, Awesome attacked again, slamming him into the ambulance.

Backstage, Tygress teased The Cat to her room for a little rest and relaxation.

Rey Mysterio, Jr. and The Juice with The Filthy Animals d. Lance Storm and Billy Kidman
Disco Inferno and Konnan called out "Kidman and Lance Storm" to the ring. Rey Mysterio and The Juice came out dressed like Billy and Lance, making fun of the youngsters. Soon, the real deal hit the ring, getting the match underway. It was a see saw battle, with both teams gunning for the win. In the end, it was Konnan and Disco interfering, setting Rey up to deliver a facejam on Kidman onto a chair for the tainted win.

Backstage, The Cat returned to his office, wondering what he missed while he was away.

Pamela Paulshock Interview: Vampiro
Vampiro wondered who brought the hooded men, reminding Pamela that he was the master of the mind games.

Pamela Paulshock Interview: Kevin Nash
Kevin Nash told Bill Goldberg that he wouldn't be hard to find in the battle royal - he would be the big pissed off guy.

Interview: Mike Awesome
Awesome demanded Scott Steiner to enter the ring, even though Big Poppa was suspended for the week. The referee called for the bell and Awesome made him count Scotty out. As Awesome bragged about having another win, Rick Steiner hit the ring, sending the Career Killer packing. The Dog Faced Gremlin told Awesome to make sure they were both absent the next time he called out a Steiner.

Backstage, The Cat gave the battle royal participants one more pep talk about eliminating Nash and Goldberg. He told the MIA, Booker T, Billy Kidman, and Lance Storm to hold off.

Battle Royal Winner - Kevin Nash
The members of The Filthy Animals were sent out first, each trying to take out Big Sexy, and each being sent to the floor, eliminated from the action. Soon, the rest of the New Blood entered, but Nash continued to fight them off. DDK came in, and the tide turned, with the NB taking over. Backstage, Booker T threw The Cat aside and the troops ran in for the save. Goldberg entered the mix, as Nash begged for him to come in. As Big Sexy turned to eliminate the last participant, Goldberg struck with a kick to the head, sending Nash to the canvas. The MIA pulled the hired gun onto the apron and Nash delivered a kick to his head, eliminating him from the match. R&B Security arrived to separate the two as Nitro came to an end.
