Monday Nitro
Des Moines, Iowa
June 26, 2000
Des Moines was the setting for another Monday Nitro under the watchful eye of Commissioner Cat. As he booked, or should it be better said, his limo driver booked a four corners match, in the depths of the arena in Des Moines, another battle waged on. Vampiro taunted Dale Torborg, as he struggled to keep The Demon from emerging. But the dark angel was soon on the receiving end, as he was held accountable for the actions of his past.

Outside in the limousine, the driver gave The Cat more booking ideas for the upcoming broadcast.
Interview: The Cat
The commissioner said he had every confidence in the world that
Jeff Jarrett would defeat "old man Hogan" at the Bash
at the Beach. He announced that The Chosen One would defend his
belt on Nitro against three men, who would have to wrestle
qualifying matches to get into the main event. Miller booked Nash
vs. Awesome and Scott Steiner vs. Shane Douglas, stating that
Bill Goldberg was given a bye and automatically entered into the
mix. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan came to the stage, telling
The Cat that he was willing to stand forward as a hero in the
absence of people like DDP, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair. When
Duggan brought up how disappointed he was in Goldberg, Cat told
him he would now wrestle against the hired gun.
Backstage, Vampiro challenged Dale Torborg to show up with The Demon for a fight. Torborg, who watched on a monitor from the hallway, told Asya that he would take care of the dark angel once and for all.
Backstage, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas stormed away as Mark Johnson told him he was facing Big Poppa Pump.
Mark Jindrak and Sean
O'Hare d. The Juice and Rey Mysterio, Jr. with The Filthy Animals
The Animals talked smack on the rookies before the contest. The
Power Plant grads, although lacking in experience, definitely had
the size and strength advantage over Mysterio and The Juice.
Gentrach and O'Hare worked over The Animals, putting to use the
skills they learned in the WCW school of hard knocks. Rey and
Juvi missed on a double team attempt, allowing Gentrach to tag
O'Hare, who came in a house of fire. The rookies delivered
simultaneous vertical suplexes before O'Hare went to the top rope
and dropped with a Senton Bomb on Juvi for the upset win. After
the match, Konnan and Disco attacked the youngsters before Lance
Storm emerged from the crowd for the save.
Backstage, The Filthy Animals screamed at The Cat about Storm's interference. Miller told them to go find Storm.
Backstage, Hacksaw's wife tried to talk him out of wrestling Goldberg.
Interview: Big Vito
The Hardcore Champion challenged anyone from the back to take him
on. The Jung Dragons came to the ring to accept the challenge,
the first two victims of a stick beating from Vito, until Kaz
turned the tide. The youngsters from the Orient gave Vito a
thrashing before landing down with a triple splash, making the
pin for themselves.
Backstage, Terry Funk continued to teach Johnny the Bull about hardcore.
In the production truck, the tag team champions, Perfectshawn and The Event showed up to cause more trouble behind the scenes.
Outside, as The Franchise tried to leave the building, the limo driver, Smooth reminded him that he would be fired. He told Shane he had a better idea for him.
Backstage, The Filthy Animals came up with a plan to split up and find Lance Storm.
From earlier in the day, DDK, Chris Kanyon sat waiting for anyone to approach for an autograph.
Backstage, Douglas feigned an ankle injury, suggesting to The Cat that Buff Bagwell may be a suitable replacement. Cat agreed and as he walked away, The Franchise paid Smooth for the idea.
Backstage, Tank grooved as 3 Count performed in the ring. When the music started to slow down and distort, Abbott went to the truck and pulled Palumbo and Stasiak to the ring. He said he was giving 3 Count a tag team title match as a gift.

Match
Perfectshawn and "The Event" Chuck Palumbo d. 3 Count
(Shane Helms and Shannon Moore) with Evan Karagias
The young music makers jumped the champions immediately, not
wanting to pass up a golden opportunity. Perfectshawn and The
Event took control over the challengers, showing the world why
they wear the gold. After a springboard and a frogsplash by Helms
and Moore, Stasiak distracted the referee, allowing Palumbo to
use the Lex Flexer on Sugar Shane. The champions used the
Flapjack slam to retain the belts. Kronic hit the ring and
destroyed Palumbo and Stasiak, handing out a pair of High Times.
As Kronic walked to the back, Sugar Shane demanded that their
music be turned off in favor of the 3 Count smash hit. Adams and
Clark headed back to the ring and prepared to drop Helms, but
Abbott threw a KO punch to save the day.
Backstage, as Juvi searched for Lance Storm, he was knocked out cold with a pipe swung by an unknown assailant.
Backstage, Jim Duggan told his wife to kiss the kids for him as he headed to the ring to face Goldberg.
From earlier in the day, Chris Kanyon suddenly had a line of fans for an autographed book. The camera swung around to the front of the sign, where a free drink sign was attached.
WCW Title Qualifying Match
Goldberg d. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
The Cat came out before the bell and reminded Duggan that his
matches were under no interference rules. He also barred the 2 X
4 from ringside. The two went face to face and exchanged blows as
they spilled to the ringside area. Hacksaw was sent into the
ringpost and rolled back into the ring, but never stopped
fighting. Goldberg threw a punch into the kidney area, the weak
spot on Hacksaw's body. Duggan continued to fight back, but
finally fell to the spear and Jackhammer of the hired gun. After
the match, Goldberg threw a series of punches to Duggan's kidney,
mouthing to the camera that Duggan's blood was on Nash's hands.
Backstage, Nash was livid as he walked down the hall. The wrestlers were shown watching on the monitor, unanimously disgusted with what they had just witnessed.
Backstage, the wrestlers surrounded Hacksaw as he was loaded into an ambulance. Nash walked away, stating that things needed to stop.
"Big Sexy" Kevin
Nash d. "Career Killer" Mike Awesome
Big Sexy walked to the ring with fire in his eyes, ready to take
out his anger on Mike Awesome. The monsters met head to head,
matching power move for power move. After a frogsplash from the
top, Awesome attempted an Awesome Bomb, but was countered by Big
Sexy. In the end, Nash pinned the Career Killer to the mat,
advancing to the main event.
Backstage, Tygress found Rey Mysterio beat up in the hallway.
Backstage in the catering room, Konnan was dropped with an object, again swung by an unknown attacker.
WCW Title Qualifying Match
Scott Steiner with Midajah d. Buff Bagwell
Big Poppa assisted Midajah out of the ring as Buff tried to sweet
talk her. Buff Daddy wanted to pose, but Steiner held up a
finger, letting Bagwell know he was number one. Bagwell worked
over the US Champion, trying to make it to the big match later in
the show. Bagwell leveled Poppa with a double arm DDT and the
Blockbuster, but only got a two count. Big Poppa Pump came back
and hit a huge belly to belly suplex, giving the Big Booty Daddy
the win over Buff Daddy. The two former partners shook hands
after the match and, as Steiner walked away Douglas attacked
Buff. Scotty ran in for the save, chasing The Franchise away.

Interview: Jeff Jarrett
Jarrett told the "bleached blonde slapnut" to pass on a
message to Hollywood Hogan. The Chosen One told Hulk to wheel
himself down to the Bash at the Beach and see why Jarrett is the
world champion.
Backstage, Daffney watched Miss Hancock walk out of David Flair's dressing room.
Interview: Miss Hancock
As the leggy blonde told production to hit her music, Daffney
charged and the catfight was on. Hancock retreated, but Daffney
got the mic and said that after Bash at the Beach, she was going
to send her bean pole butt back to the Hooters she was found at.
Back at the autograph signing, Booker T showed up and asked Kanyon to sign the brick he was attacked with last week. A brawl ensued, with Booker clobbering DDK with a chair.

Interview: Miss Hancock
Miss Hancock challenged Daffney to make their match at the PPV a
Wedding Gown match.
Backstage, The Animals regrouped, with Disco telling the pack that he would take care of Storm.
Lance Storm d. Disco
Inferno
Disco challenged Storm to come to the ring for a match. The
Canadian star answered, flying from the top rope on to the Filthy
Animal. Storm unleashed on Inferno, sending him from corner to
corner with a flurry of moves. Storm locked on the rolling crab
submission hold, causing Disco to tap. The rest of the filthy
thugs mugged Storm, before Billy Kidman made the save, cleaning
house with the same metal pipe responsible for taking the Animals
out earlier.
No Contest - Vampiro vs.
Dale Torborg
As Torborg looked around the basement, Vampiro jumped from a
ledge above, taking the immediate advantage. They used anything
they could get their hands on in this fight to the death. Vamp
kicked Torborg into a coffin and leaned over, but was nailed from
behind by a mysterious intruder. As Vamp lay on the ground, the
person placed a Sting mask on his face.

Interview: The Filthy Animals
As the group all stood holding their heads, Konnan challenged
Storm and Kidman to a match on Thunder.
WCW World Title Match
Four Corners Match
Jeff Jarrett d. Scott Steiner and Goldberg and Kevin Nash
In the back, Goldberg was shown punching Kevin Nash into
unconsciousness. Jarrett jumped Steiner outside the ring, but
Poppa Pump was ready for a fight. Goldberg came to the ring and
flattened Steiner. Big Poppa recovered and hit the belly to
belly, but Jarrett pulled the ref from the ring before he could
make the three count. The Chosen One and the hired gun
concentrated on Scotty, taking advantage of the two on one
situation. Mike Awesome came out and took the US belt from
Midajah, which he used on Big Poppa. Nash finally made it out and
cleared the ring, Jackknifing Awesome and setting Goldberg up for
the same. Jarrett saved, but was set up himself for the ride.
Goldberg delivered a kick right to Nash's face, allowing Jarrett
to get the pin and retain the gold. After the bell, Goldberg took
Hall's contract out of his tights, taunting Big Sexy as Nitro
came to an end.
