Monday Nitro
Atlanta, Georgia
June 5, 2000
The fans were out of control. It was the night that their hometown hero, Bill Goldberg returned to Atlanta and returned to the World Championship Wrestling ring. As the former Falcon went head to head with his rival Tank Abbott, the fans of "Hotlanta" found out that Goldberg hadn't lost a step and was still, and always will be ... the man
In a clip from earlier, Tank Abbott and Rick Steiner arrived to the Phillips Arena.
Interview: Eric Bischoff and
Vince Russo
Russo and Bischoff walked to the ring with R & B Security
by their side. Eric welcomed the Atlanta fans back to the
wrestling empire that he built. He told the world that Scott
Steiner would face Vampiro and Kevin Nash would run the "New
Blood gauntlet," with the stipulation being that if Nash
lost one match, he would relinquish his title shot at the Bash.
He also wowed the crowd with the announcement that Sting would do
battle against Jeff Jarrett. Russo got the mic and sent out a
challenge to John Rocker of the Atlanta Braves. Vince told Ric
Flair he would see him in the cage later in the show. Bischoff
said that at some point in the night, he would take the Hardcore
Title from Terry Funk himself. Bill Goldberg watched on the
monitor in the back as Russo talked smack on the hometown boy.
Goldberg came to the ring and destroyed R & B Security as
Bischoff and Russo ran to the back.
Backstage, Bischoff told Jeff Jarrett to suck it up and defeat Sting later on in their match. When Billy Kidman asked Eric if he could take care of Horace, Bischoff said to do whatever he wanted. This angered Torrie, who stormed away.
WCW World Tag Team Title Match
Countout - Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak d. Kronic
Kronic dominated over Palumbo and Stasiak as they charged
into the ring. Clark and Adams used their massive power to get
the best of the young champions. The Cat arrived on the rampway,
intently watching the championship bout. Stasiak and Palumbo took
control, slowing things down with quick double team moves. Clark
made the hot tag and cleaned house, sending both men to the
floor. Miller entered the ring and told the referee to count the
wrestlers out. When Billy Silverman refused, Cat placed him in
the chicken wing, demanding the count. After the bell, Miller
told Kronic that his best friend Eric Bischoff would kick them
out if they touched him. They attempted a double slam, but were
stopped by Stasiak and Palumbo, who were left laying instead.
Backstage, Billy Kidman told Torrie not to embarrass him in front of the bosses again. When Major Guns came to Wilson's aid, Kidman called her a dumb bitch and told her to get lost.
Backstage, as Nash, Big Poppa, Midajah and Shikira arrived to the building, Pamela told Big Sexy of Bischoff's announcement earlier in the show. Nash's biggest concern, however, was that he was the last man to arrive to the building, wanting to keep his gimmick alive.
Backstage, Major Guns told the Misfits In Action that Kidman yelled at her. GI Bro told the troops that their mission for the night was to kick Kidman's ass.
Backstage, Big Sexy told Goldberg to destroy Tank and reminded him that Nash owed him one.
GI Bro with The Misfits In
Action d. Bill Kidman with The Filthy Animals
Bro came to the ring with the MIA, demanding Billy Kidman to
come to the ring. Kidman arrived with The Filthy Animals, saying
he was ready for a fight. Bro ripped Billy apart, setting him in
the corner for a Major Guns "surprise." The surprise
however, came when Torrie entered the ring and delivered a low
blow on her beau. Kidman reached into his pants and removed a
cup, but couldn't escape a GI slam to the canvas, giving Bro the
victory. After the bell, The Animals and Kidman attacked the MIA
and Bro, leaving them in the ring.
WCW Hardcore Title Match
Eric Bischoff d. Terry Funk
The Cat passed weapons to the boss, who swung them at Funk in
the ring. Terry blasted Eric over the head with a trashcan,
prompting The Cat to lead Mr. Bischoff to the back, with The
Funker on their heels.
Miss Hancock entered the ring and started a little dance routine until Kimberly and Mike Awesome came out. Kim said Hancock was stealing her spotlight and took the clipboard over her back. As Kim and Awesome walked away, Hancock told Mrs. Page to get her fat ass back to the ring. Kim said she would take care of Hancock later.
The Hardcore Title match continued as Funk and Bischoff fought back up the ramp, with The Funker wheeling his boss to the ring in a wheelbarrow. Backstage, Vince Russo told The Mamalukes to go out and stop the slaughter. In the ring, Funk started to drop his pants, exposing his backside to Bischoff, who was slumped in the corner. The Mamalukes saved the day, destroying Funk with a chair and a broom handle, leaving him lifeless in the ring. Big Vito put Eric on top of Funk and, three seconds later, Easy E was the new Hardcore Champion.
Outside, Ric Fair and family arrived to the Phillips Arena.
US Title Match
Scott Steiner d. Vampiro
Steiner posed for the Atlanta crowd as the beautiful Midajah
and Shikira looked on in approval. Vampiro arrived with a gas can
and blowtorch in hand. Big Poppa had Vamp on the defense until
the gothic one dropped Steiner with a big boot in the corner. On
the outside, Steiner introduced Vamp to the ringside steps and
guardrail, before putting him through the announcer's table. The
dark angel came back with a steel chair over Poppa's head,
dropping him to the floor. Back inside, as Vamp went for the gas
can, Midajah came from the top with a bodyblock, making Vampiro
angry. He chased her down the ramp, finally stopping her as he
poured gasoline around her body. Sting arrived in the nick of
time for the save, beating Vampiro back to the ring with the
black bat. Steiner took Vamp over with a belly to belly, followed
by a Steiner Recliner for the submission win. R & B Security
fell victim to a Sting and Steiner attack after the match.
Bill Goldberg d. Tank Abbott
Goldberg countered everything Tank came at him with until
Rick Steiner attacked with a chair. The two beat on the former
Atlanta Falcon until Big Sexy made the save. Nash tripped up
Rick, allowing Goldberg to spear and jackhammer Abbott, taking
three seconds to silence the former UFC fighter.
Backstage, Bill Goldberg thanked Kevin Nash and told WCW trainer Danny Young to stitch him up.
Interview: Kimberly and Mike
Awesome
As Pamela started the interview, Kim told her that she was
forgiven for stealing the spotlight, because she was new. Kim
challenged Miss Hancock to find a partner to face her and Mike
Awesome.
Non-Title Match
Sting d. Jeff Jarrett
Sting had the WCW Champion reeling from the opening moments
of this all-important contest. Jarrett turned the tide as he
viciously attacked Sting with a steel chair on the ramp way.
After a sunset flip attempt on Jarrett, Sting rolled the champion
over for the three count. The referee awarded him the belt, but
Eric Bischoff came out and said he never booked the match for the
title. Sting told Easy E that Jarrett would arrive to the Bash in
a body bag. The Stinger proceeded to pummel the champion, even
dropping a six stringer over his head. Jarrett was stretchered
from the arena into an ambulance.
DDP and Miss Hancock d. Mike
Awesome and Kimberly
Awesome told DDP that he had six days left until the end of
his career. Kim came out, blowing mock kisses to the crowd. Miss
Hancock made Kim sign a paper that released her from all damages
she would do. Kim laughed and signed the paper. As Hancock
brought DDP out for her partner, Kimberly reminded him of the 500
foot restraining order. Page was happy to point out that she just
signed those rights away, and the match was on. Hancock and
Kimberly exchanged dances until the leggy Hancock took Kim over
by the hair with a series of snap mares. As DDP and Awesome got
into the action, the two went back and forth, with the Career
Killer getting the advantage. Awesome went for his famous Awesome
Bomb, but Hancock distracted by lifting her skirt, allowing DDP
to set and deliver the Diamond Cutter for the pinfall win.
Backstage, Pamela stood outside Hulk Hogan's dressing room. She told the world that The Hulkster had stated he would not fight Horace.
Steel Cage Match
Hollywood Hogan d. Horace Hogan
Bischoff gloated as he told Horace that they had the night
off. The nWo music hit the sound system and Hogan came to the
stage. He said that Hulk Hogan would not wrestle, but Hollywood
was going to kick his nephew's ass. The cage lowered and the
family feud was underway. Hollywood and Horace fought in and
outside the ring surrounded by steel mesh. The end came when
Hollywood placed a chair over Horace's face and dropped a legdrop
for the 1-2-3. After the bell, Billy Kidman entered, but was
thrown over the ropes and through a table, courtesy of the former
WCW champion.
Interview: Ric Flair
The Nature Boy told Pamela that he would show Vince Russo why
he was the dirtiest player in the game.
Steel Cage Match
Vince Russo d. Ric Flair with Beth and Reid Flair
Russo was terrified as he looked across the ring at the
dirtiest player in the game. Flair beat the hell out of Vince
Russo, tearing his shirt from his body. As The Nature Boy sent
Russo into the cage, David Flair appeared from under the ring.
Ric turned his barrage to his son, chopping him into oblivion.
Russo commandeered a ladder, opened a section of the cage, and
climbed to the top. Flair followed as the two took their fight
twenty feet above the ring. As they climbed back down, Ric
applied the figure four on Vince until the New Bloodbath fell
from the ceiling, covering everyone in the ring. Russo and David
mauled Ric, leading to a Russo pinfall.
Backstage, Scott Steiner wished Kevin Nash good luck.
Gauntlet Match
Kevin Nash d. The New Blood
Russo came out and said that Nash would lose his shot if he
lost a fall or if a member of the Millionaires Club interfered.
The faster they entered, the harder they fell as Nash ran through
the New Blood gauntlet. Soon it was seven on one until Goldberg
came out for the save. Bischoff said he would suspend Goldberg on
Thunder. Goldberg said that if a suspension was handed out,
Bischoff was NEXT!
