Monday Nitro
Rockford, Illinois
April 17, 2000
One night removed from the "new" WCW's first PPV, the New Blood was on a high, wearing all but one of the championships in the organization. The new WCW World Champion, Jeff Jarrett even went so far as to sign an open contract for his new crown. Little by little, however, the party started to fall apart as the Millionaires' Club made their own invitations. When it came time for The Chosen One to step up to the plate, he was met, much to his surprise, by a challenge from within the foundation of the New Blood... Big Poppa Pump, Scott Steiner.
Backstage, security checked all doors around the building, making sure there was no way for the Millionaires' Club to enter.
Interview: The New Blood
The sounds of "New York, New York" filled the arena as
the show got underway. Red balloons and confetti showered the
Rockford crowd, as the New Blood made their way to the ring,
covered in championship gold. Vince Russo introduced all of the
new champions and told Terry Funk that his title was coming to
the NB fold later in the show. Russo called out the new WCW World
Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett. The Chosen One told
"good ole' JR" to kiss his ass. Jarrett then challenged
DDP to a triple cage match for Slamboree. Bischoff came to the
ring with Kimberly by his side. As a riot squad surrounded the
ring, Eric told Dallas that Kim was the whipped cream on Easy E's
cake. Mrs. Page said that DDP was a glory hog and always wanted
the attention for himself. She was going to take advantage of her
own opportunities and referred to Eric as her biggest one.
Outside, Dallas arrived at the arena, attacking security as they tried to hold him back. He charged the ring and, as the New Blood thumped him to the ground, the riot squad entered, revealing themselves to be Millionaires' Club members, Ric Flair, Sting and the Total Package. The New Blood retreated to the back as Bischoff looked on in disbelief.
Backstage, Bischoff scolded the New Blood members that were not there to back him up when the MC attacked. Eric told Russo to find Mike Awesome and send him after DDP. The beaten security team came into the office and quit, telling Eric they weren't into getting beat up by the wrestlers. As Bischoff answered his phone, Hogan was on the other line, saying he would be there to finish off Bischoff in five minutes.
"The Perfect One"
Shawn Stasiak d. Curt Hennig
As the match got underway, Miss Hancock made her first appearance
for the new WCW. Hennig, who was looking for revenge from last
week's attack, beat on the young Stasiak, in and outside the
ring. The referee went down as Curt applied the HennigPlex. As
Hennig attended to the ref, Stasiak went to his kneepad for an
object, which he used on Curt for the tainted win.
Outside, three of Rockford's finest attempted to stop Hulk Hogan from coming into the arena. After a stare down, the officers let Hogan go by. He made his way through the back and to the ring, where Stasiak was still beating on Hennig with the foreign object. "The Perfect One" was sent over the top rope as Hulk helped Hennig to his feet.
Interview: Hulk Hogan
The Hulkster told the Rockford crowd he had listened to his
supporters and critics. He said that Terry Bollea still had a lot
to offer the wrestling business and challenged anyone in the back
to come out knock him off the mountain. He specifically mentioned
Kidman, telling the cocky New Blood member that he was first on
the list. Kidman and Torrie Wilson appeared on the big screen and
told Hogan to come to the back for a fight. As Hulk ran after
Kidman, Bischoff was seen waiting in the background, behind
Kidman and Torrie.
Outside, Hogan searched everywhere for Billy Kidman, screaming his name for the world to hear.
Interview: Jeff Jarrett
The WCW champion told Mean Gene that he had signed an open
contract for anyone "that was not a millionaire" to
face him for the title.
WCW Hardcore Title Match
Terry Funk d. The Wall
Wall took three chair shots from the Hardcore Champion before
kicking Funk to the mat. The bout quickly spilled to the outside,
where the crazy Texan delivered a moonsault from the top rope to
the floor in a kamikaze-like move. The champion was sent into
convulsions after The Wall piledrove him onto the announcer's
table. The two fought up the aisle, using the guardrails and
tables as weapons. As The Wall was knocked down under a table,
Funk stomped down on it and covered the challenger, retaining his
Hardcore Title.
Backstage, Brian Adams and Bryan Clark approached Vince Russo, asking him when their title match was on. Russo told them they were promised a title match, but they would have to wait for it.
Outside The Chosen One's dressing room, someone came to the door and signed the open contract. Jarrett walked up to the door and ripped down the contract, storming into the room.
Interview: Diamond Dallas Page
Page told Eric Bischoff that he would be sorry for screwing with
his personal life. DDP promised Eric that he would be left lying.
Backstage, Brian Adams and Bryan Clark destroyed The Harris Boys. The devastation continued as they hit the ring, annihilating The Mamalukes. Adams said that everyone has been shaking in their boots since they debuted. They told Russo and Bischoff that they did not want to be on Cronic's bad side.
Interview: Vampiro
The gothic one said that he tasted Sting's blood and smelled his
fear when they were under the ring at the PPV. Vamp said he would
devour The Stinger at Slamboree. The arena faded to black and
Sting's music blared throughout the arena. As Vampiro watched
down the aisle, Sting dropped from the ceiling, and grabbed Vamp,
putting a scare into him before dropping him with the Scorpion
Death Drop.
Backstage, Hulk Hogan tore up and down the hallways, looking for Billy Kidman.
Backstage, Jeff Jarrett told Russo to get him out of the title match later in the night. Vince told the champ that he would go talk to the challenger.
Disqualification - DDP d. Mike
Awesome
Page went after Awesome with a vengeance, seeing nothing but Eric
Bischoff with every move. Awesome threw a flying clothesline from
the middle of the top rope to the floor onto Page. Kanyon ran out
and jumped on Awesome, but was quickly stopped. Awesome brought a
table into the ring and set Kanyon up for a powerbomb. Big Sexy's
music played and Awesome dropped Kanyon, focusing on the entrance
area. Nash came in from behind and Jackknifed Awesome through the
table.
Backstage, Russo tried to talk the challenger out of going through the title match.
Interview: The Franchise Shane
Douglas and Buff Bagwell
The Franchise said that even thought he should be happy about
winning the belts, he wanted the Total Package in the ring.
Package appeared and accepted the challenge under one
condition... if Russo interfered; Team Package would get the tag
team titles.
Interview: Tank Abbott
Tank told Madden not to look at him. Madden practically wet
himself as Tank looked around for his next victim. Abbott made
his way around the ring and grabbed the Chicago Blackhawks owner,
dragging him into the ring. Tank almost opened fire, but was
stopped by WCW security and a Blackhawks player.
Backstage, Terry Taylor told Hulk Hogan where to find Billy Kidman.
Backstage, Russo told Jarrett that the challenger still wanted his title shot.
No Contest - The Franchise vs.
The Total Package with Elizabeth
Package slammed Douglas' head from one buckle to the other. Shane
was rocked in the corner by a series of kicks and chokes. The
tide soon turned, and The Franchise used his wrist tape around
Luger's throat. Package came back and signaled for the Rack, as
Bagwell came to the ringside area. As Package and Douglas fought
next to the guardrail, a man in a Sting mask raised his bat,
hitting The Franchise several times. The man in the mask followed
the action back into the ring, taking off the mask, revealing Ric
Flair. Russo pulled Douglas out of the ring as Franchise and
Bagwell asked Vince where he was when Flair attacked.
In the parking garage, Hulk Hogan walked toward the white Hummer. He brawled with Kidman all over the garage, slamming him into the wall over and over. Torrie tried to stop Hogan with a 2X4 across the back, but to no avail. Hogan threw Billy into a dumpster. Hulk spotted Bischoff, who ran for the Hummer to get away. It wouldn't start, so he ran up the ramp of the garage. Hogan started the Hummer and rammed the dumpster, will Kidman still inside. He then drove up the ramp after Bischoff.
WCW World Title Match
Disqualification - Scott Steiner d. Jeff Jarrett
Jarrett made his way to the ring, as the world wondered who
the challenger was in this all important title match. Everyone
found out in a big way when Big Poppa Pump, accompanied by an
entourage of beauties, made his way down the aisle. Steiner, the
United States Champion, pounded Jarrett into the corner with his
massive forearms. When The Chosen One finally got Poppa on the
mat, he made sure he stayed down, pummeling him with kicks and
elbows. Jarrett clamped on a sleeper, but was kicked low, forcing
him to relinquish the hold. As Big Poppa applied the Steiner
Recliner, Booker charged the ring and dropped a scissors kick
across Steiner's back, causing an immediate disqualification.
Booker told Jarrett he was welcome and left the ring.
Backstage, Hogan wielded a lead pipe and screamed for Eric Bischoff. He found him and chased him from the dressing room, down the ramp and into the arena. Hogan kicked Bischoff, before cornering him in the ring. Bret Hart made his way down the aisle, brandishing a chair. Just as The Hitman swung the chair, Nitro went off the air, leaving the world wondering what would happen next.
