- We start with a recap of last week
when Jeff Jarrett chased Samoa Joe around the Impact zone looking for his belt.
Voice over man plugged Kurt Angle's sit down interview.
- Borash is outside Cornette's office. Jeff Jarrett walked into the scene. He
solemnly said something's not worth fighting for anymore.
- Tenay plugged a Samoa Joe interview to start the show. Joe, dressed in street
clothes, was in the ring with the NWA Title belt around his shoulder. Joe said
the jackass who normally carries around the belt steals the spotlight so often
that he thought it would be his turn. He asked himself why he has the NWA Title
belt. "For the last four years, these fans have seen this belt held hostage by
the worst of men," he said. Joe said these people have seen paper champion after
paper champion use the NWA Title as a political leveraging tool. "For the last
four years, this belt has not been treated with the respect it deserves," he
said. Joe listed names such as Dory Funk, Jr. and Harley Race, who treated the
belt as a testament for being the best. He said that the man who wins the belt
at Bound for Glory would be handed the belt on one condition that Joe receives
an NWA Title shot.
Christian Cage's music interrupted. He walked out dressed to wrestle. Christian
said he was standing in the back minding his own business when he couldn't help
but overhear Joe say something about paper champions. He said he assumed Joe
wasn't talking about himself. Joe said Christian is a very close second as paper
champion behind Jarrett. Christian said Joe hasn't beaten him. "You haven't beat
me and you never, ever will beat me," he said. Christian said the NWA Title belt
was stolen from him the same way he stole it from Jarrett. He said he's going to
take it back tonight. Joe lowered the ropes and told Christian to hit the ring.
Christian said he's not talking about a wrestling match, but a fight. He wants
no rules, no refs, and no winners, but about the NWA Title belt. Christian said
they need to hang the belt above the ring and have a ladder match. He said the
better man is the one who will walk away with the belt. He added, "And that's
me." Christian stormed off as Joe stared after Christian.
- Tenay and West plugged everything under the sun including Sting and Angle
interviews.
- Borash was in the locker room area with LAX. Konnan said they're on the hunt
for some gringo meat tonight, A.J. and Daniels. The aforementioned babyfaces
jumped LAX to cut off the interview. Daniels threw Hernandez headfirst into a
locker as they cut to break.
[Commercial Break]
- The fight spilled to the ringside area from the locker room area. Styles
slammed Homicide into the ring steps. In the ring, Daniels took Hernandez
headfirst into the corner turnbuckle. Hernandez came up bleeding heavy. Daniels
then choked Homicide with his hoodie. Styles then back dropped Hernandez over
the top rope to the floor. LAX retreated on the outside. Daniels and Styles
followed them to the Spanish announce table area. Konnan then made the save.
Yes, Konnan had to make the save. They took Daniels into a caged area and
started to beat him unmercifully. They locked out Styles and continued to beat
down Daniels. Security managed to get inside the cage to break up the fight as
Styles could only watch from the opposite side of the cage. Konnan held
Daniels's face against the cage so Styles could get a good look at his mug.
- Ron Killings cut a promo about Sting vs. Jarrett. He said they had better get
with Sting. Rhino said he doesn't want to talk about Sting-Jarrett; he would
rather talk about his concussion.
[Commercial Break]
- They recapped the Bobby Roode sweepstakes. They showed him talking on the
phone with the managers he interviewed and telling them he turned them down.
Sherri hung up on him. Roode said he would reveal his manager at Bound for
Glory. He turned around to hand off some papers to someone when a pair of
breasts walked into the picture. They didn't reveal a face and shot from the
neck down. Roode told the breasts that he made the right choice. Apparently, the
cameraman was a horny teenage as the camera zoomed in on the breasts for several
seconds. Well, the breasts belong to Traci Brooks in case you weren't able to
recognize them.
- Jerry Lynn was backstage talking to the X Division goofs. He told them the
fans think they're a bunch of Jackasses and it's time to wrestle. Well,
considering Shark Boy was in the picture, that's funny. The X Division guys
walked off to the ring, but Sabin stayed behind. He turned to Lynn and called
him "old man." He then told Sabin to come to the ring and see what the X
Division is all about.
1 -- ALEX SHELLEY & SENSHI & PETEY WILLIAMS & JOHNNY DEVINE vs. CHRIS SABIN &
JAY LETHAL & SHARK BOY & SONJAY DUTT
Lynn walked out. Tenay said we would hear from Kevin Nash right after the match.
The match broke down at 3:30. Sabin rolled up Shelley for the win. Lethal
sarcastically applauded from the top of the ramp. After the match, Kevin Nash
appeared on the video tron. He said the X Division has gone to the crapper. He
said the division is at an all-time low and it sickens him. He then dabbed away
tears from his eyes. Tenay wasn't impressed. Nash said he would hold a press
conference next week for the Bound for Glory Kevin Nash X Division open
invitational battle royale... at Bound for Glory. Sabin wasn't impressed in the
ring.
WINNERS: The four generic babyfaces in 4:00.
- Styles cut a promo about Sting-Jarrett. He told Sting not to forgot about his
boy when he wins the NWA Title. Christian's back told us that he doesn't want to
talk about Sting-Jarrett.
[Commercial Break]
- Sting is in another video package. He had a red circle around his right eye.
Another dramatic video quoting the Bible. They showed Sting standing on some
rocks on the beach.
2 -- ELIX SKIPEPR & DAVID YOUNG w/Simon Diamond vs. RON KILLINGS & LANCE HOYT
Diamonds in the Rough jumped the babyfaces before the opening bell. They cut to
backstage where Raven, Rhino, and Brother Runt were arguing. Raven said that
"coconut eater," Samoa Joe was disrespecting them by focusing on the NWA Title
rather their four-way deal at the PPV. In the ring, Skipper and Young argued.
That allowed Killings to take control. Hoyt then slammed Young. Skipper became
preoccupied and Killings rolled him up for the win. After the match, Simon
Diamond was upset with both men. He yelled and screamed then ripped off his
jacket. He threw it at Skipper then left. Young grabbed Skipper and yelled at
him. Killings grabbed Skipper then shook his hand and hugged him.
WINNERS: Hoyt & Killings in 2:00. OK, that came completely out of nowhere and
there will be no hype to follow up on that on this show so it will mean nothing.
- Shane Douglas cut a promo about Sting-Jarrett. B.G. James and Kip James
discussed Jarrett. Kip said Jarrett acts like he's the almighty. B.G. then
walked out of the camera shot and said everyone's right, Kip is an ass. OK, that
came completely out of nowhere and there will be no follow up on that on this
show so it will mean nothing.
- They said the Angle interview would be up next. So far, this show is exactly
what Ed Ferrara talked about in the Keller Hotline on Wed. about "oh, by the
way" booking.
[Commercial Break]
- Tenay introduced the Angle pre-tape interview. Angle said his dream was to win
the Olympic gold medal and he didn't know what he was going to do after that. He
said he went to pro wrestling and put his body on the line. He said he won six
WWE Titles then someone told him that he's not special. Angle said he saw a
company on the rise in TNA. He said he would take that chance when the
opportunity came. On the TNA talent, he said "these guys" want to be the best in
the world. He said they all have that look in their eye. Any names of "these
guys"? Could he name anyone in the X Division? Angle said he hit rock bottom
when he had neck surgery. He said TNA management told him that they would take
care of him, keep doctors on him 24/7, and his relationship with his family
would be a priority. That's an expensive medical bill. He said he finally
realized that his family is more important. Angle said the WWE CEO told him a
Gold medal and a cup of coffee don't mean (bleep). He said he wanted to send a
message to WWE to watch out because they ain't seen nothing yet.
3 -- SAMOA JOE vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE -- Unsanctioned ladder match
If this is unsanctioned, why would TNA air it on TV? It wouldn't take but 30
seconds for Cornette to come on camera from his office and say that TNA
management has decided to wash its hands of the potential destruction in the
match, but in the interest of giving the fans a quality TV product, they're
going to air the match anyways. Joe walked out first and hung the belt on a
holder. Christian slowly entered the ring and Joe met him with a right hand. No
bell rang and there was no referee since it's unsanctioned. Christian cut off
Joe, but Joe answered with a high kick in the corner. Joe then tried to grab a
ladder from under the ring, but Christian cut him off. Joe answered with a kick
sending the ladder crashing into Christian's stomach. They cut to break with the
ladder on top of Christian's stomach.
[Commercial Break]
The ladder was set up in the ring out of the break. Tenay said this is not a
wrestling match; it's a ladder challenge. Christian set up the ladder on the far
side of the ring then Joe reversed a corner whip and Christian ate the ladder.
Joe placed Christian in the corner then he washed his face. Joe then placed the
ladder next to Christian's crotch. He charged the ladder and propelled it into
Christian's crotch. Nice spot. Joe then set up the ladder and began scaling the
ladder. He grabbed the ladder, but Christian caught him from behind. Christian
dropped Joe to the mat with an inverted DDT. The fans chanted for TNA. Christian
was the first one up. He moved the ladder to the corner again then scaled it
backwards. Joe recovered and threw Christian off the ladder. Weird spot. Joe
then placed the ladder on Christian's stomach and hit a charging rear splash on
the ladder and Christian. Christian slipped out of the Muscle Buster than
grabbed the ladder and rammed it into Joe, sending him to the floor. Christian
set up the ladder in center ring this time and he began scaling. He had his
hands on the belt, but he decided he couldn't grab it from the hook. Joe caught
him with a punch to the kidneys then he dropped Christian with the Muscle
Buster. Joe scaled the ladder, but then saw Abyss coming to the ring so he threw
the ladder aside. Abyss entered the ring and dropped Joe with the Muscle Buster.
Too easy. Abyss then set up the ladder in center ring. He began climbing until
Brother Runt and Raven to the ring. They powerbombed Abyss off the ladder. Raven
then attacked Runt. They brawled to the outside then Abyss joined the brawl.
Meanwhile, Runt set up a ladder and flew to the outside on Abyss and Raven. Back
in the ring, Christian set up the ladder in center ring. He began climbing and
gained possession of the belt, but Joe took it from his hands. They fought for
control before Rhino hit the ring. He shoved both men off the ladder and Joe
fell to the mat with control of the belt. Rhino and Joe stared down each other
as the fans roared in anticipation of a fight. Rhino turned around and Gored
Christian then chased him to the outside. They closed with Joe staring into the
hard camera while raising the title belt in the air.
WINNER: No official winner at no official time (12:00 of TV time). If they
switched the Bound for Glory main event from Jarrett-Sting to Joe-Rhino, they
would probably do more buys after the inadvertent smart booking of Joe-Rhino.
They did a great job of teasing a future match-up between the two bulls. With
them not making any contact so as not to give away the visual of them fighting,
TNA could make money on getting fans to pay $29.99 to see that fight contact
they could only visualize.
- They closed with a music video recapping the show. Team 3D said they're hungry
for the NWA Tag Titles to become the greatest team of all time.
