- The show opened with clips of Jeff
Jarrett signing the contract to face Sting for the NWA Title at Bound for Glory.
Jim Cornette was patched through on the Batphone to promote this week's
polygraph test for Jarrett.
- Jeremy Borash was backstage with Jeff Jarrett. Eric Young jumped into the
picture from behind. New hair for Eric. He said it involved a long story, a deck
of cards, and a lady. Young said he would help Jarrett if he would help him keep
his job. He said he's never failed a polygraph and he can help Jarrett pass his
polygraph. Borash said we would find out tonight whether Jarrett is guilty or
innocent.
- Tenay and West broke down the show as they did crowd shots and showed So Cal
Val ringside. After fireworks went off, LAX came out to the ring through their
separate ring entrance. Homicide and Hernandez flashed the NWA Tag Titles. They
showed the Ultimate X structure in the ring.
1 -- HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ w/Konnan vs. THE MACK BROTHERS -- Non-title match
Homicide jumped the Mack Brother with facial hair after the bell rang. Hernandez
then picked him up and hit a release overhead German Suplex. They hit
simultanoues Border Toss and Cop Killer for the win. Hernandez actually tossed
his Mack brother over the other one in mid-air. Dual pins led to the win.
WINNERS: LAX in 1:00.
- Afterwards, Konnan grabbed a No Surrender poster and pointed out that A.J.
Styles and Christopher Daniels were on the PPV poster with AMW. He told them to
bring it at the PPV and they would destroy them in Ultimate X. Konnan said
Styles would be back doing dark matches and Daniels would be part of the Blue
Man Group in Vegas. Styles and Daniels hit the ring. They cleared Homicide to
the outside then Daniels cleared Hernandez to the outside with a running knee to
the face. Daniels scaled the Ultimate X cables then Styles tossed him one of the
belts and he hung up top. LAX screamed in indignation. Homicide wanted to climb
the structure, but Konnan and Hernandez held him back. The fans chanted, "You
can't get it."
- They went to an announcer shot and Tenay discussed the Jarrett polygraph. No
better example of Jarrett bigfooting LAX. It was almost as if TNA was saying
'ok, that was a nice little thing with those tag guys, now let's get to the real
business of whatever Jarrett is doing this week.' They showed the "polygraph
specialist" setting up the machine for Jarrett. Jim Cornette was shown walking
backstage with a clipboard in hand. Slick Johnson ran up to Cornette and handed
him a cup of something. Cornette took it and walked off. Slick did a
ridiculously cheesy double fist pump.
[Commercial Break with a Triple H BSN commercial in super deep, ultra-serious
heel promo voice.]
- They aired a Bobby Roode sweepstakes segment. Roode walked up to a limo where
Bobby Heenan was shown sitting inside. Heenan said he could take Roode to money
opportunities. Heenan pulled out an envelope and promoted his real estate
investments. Roode wasn't sure what to make of it. Heenan then pulled out an
envelope with a coupon for a free dinner. Roode hesitantly thanked him then
looked at some cash in the envelope. He liked that. They shook hands and Roode
said he likes how Heenan operates.
- Borash was backstage with Lethal, Sabin, and Dutt. They were watching clips
from Jackass 2 on a big screen TV. Jerry Lynn walked in and said he's been
trying to talk to them all night about getting ready to win some matches (what a
concept!), but the X Division guys keep goofing off. Sabin, with his back to the
camera, said he's doing some intense training for Senshi at No Surrender by
watching clips. Lynn washed his hands of the scene and left. Borash gave a plug
for the movie. Goofs.
2 -- MAVERICK MATT & KAZARIAN & AMERICA'S MOST WANTED (CHRIS HARRIS & JAMES
STORM w/Gail Kim) vs. JAMES GANG (B.G. & KIP) & SHARK BOY & NORMAN SMILEY
The heels cut off B.G.'s pre-match speech before the opening bell. Tenay said
there would be an eight-team battle royale at No Surrender. Get everyone a
payday in a match put together at the last second. The action quickly broke down
then Storm hit a superkick on Smiley at 2:00. Harris then covered Smiley to
score the pin for the win.
Afterwards, Storm argued with Harris because he set up the victory. West said it
should be about the team winning, not about the individual who scores the pin.
Harris turned to Storm, flicked him off, and left the ring.
WINNER: AMW, Kazarian, and Maverick in 2:00. Nothing happening multiple-person
tag match. Have to save time for the polygraph.
[Commercial Break]
- Jarrett was strapped down to a chair backstage. Eric Young stroked Jarrett's
feet as Jarrett sipped an alcoholic beverage. Young said he's trying to calm
Jarrett's nerves. He mentioned Roe v. Wade and O.J. Simpson. The "polygraph
administer" entered the picture and asked Jarrett what his name is and whether
he's NWA Champion. Young snapped that he was badgering the witness and Jarrett
doesn't have to answer those tough questions. Borash said this might take a
while so he sent it back to Tenay and West.
- Tenay said it's not a good idea to trust Eric Young. West said desperate times
call for desperate measures. Tenay introduced a sit-down interview with Shane
Douglas to discuss The Naturals. Douglas said he's tried to push them to rise to
the top. He said being champion isn't an easy task. Douglas said his team would
walk out of No Surrender as champions or failures. Chase Stevens and Andy
Douglas interrupted. Stevens questioned Douglas if he would end the experiment.
Douglas asked them if they would step up and actually win a match.
[Commercial Break]
- A promo aired for A. Starr debuting at Bound for Glory.
- A video package for Raven aired. They showed him walking backstage in a bright
white suit as he talked about creating his own group of misfits. He said he
picked Brother Runt because he's the runt of the litter and that's who he can
mold into his own disciple. He said he would test Abyss's psyche next week in a
Hangman's Noose match.
3 -- CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. RON KILLINGS
They did more to promote the match last week than to promote it on this week's
show. Anytime Christian wrestles, it should feel special, not randomly placed on
the show. Killings ran over Christian with a leg lariat at 1:00. Killings
dropkicked Christian off the apron to the floor. He hit a slingshot plancha then
played to the crowd. We're off to a break. Let me guess, Christian will be on
the offensive when we return.
[Commercial Break]
Imagine that, Christian was in control of the match post break. Tenay narrated
clips from the commercial when Christian took control. Christian executed a
neckbreaker then he mocked Killings. He dropped Killings across his knee with a
neckbreaker. After Killings kicked out of a pin attempt, Christian choked
Killings across the middle rope by standing on the back of his neck and driving
Killings's throat into the ropes. Christian applied a neck wrench and Killings
made a comeback with hard elbow smashes. Christian cut him off with a back elbow
smash off the ropes. He applied a reverse chinlock and Killings fought back to
his feet. He dropped Christian to his back then hit a top rope guillotine leg
drop for a nearfall. Both men recovered to their feet at 9:00. Killings got a
head of steam with hard clotheslines. He hit a flip-over jawbreaker for a
nearfall. Killings caught Christian off the ropes with a victory roll for a
nearfall. Christian dropped Killings with a clothesline then hit a spear. He
made the cover for a nearfall. Christian made contact with the referee then
Killings dropped Christian with a clothesline. He made a cover, but the referee
was busy checking his eyes. Killings scored the visual three count, but
Christian kicked out. He then kicked Killings and executed the Unprettier for
the win.
WINNER: Christian in 13:00. Formula, vanilla singles match. After watching
innovative, spontaneous, and inventive pro wrestling at PWG last weekend, this
looked like the type of match you would write a script for at training school,
then slowly walk through the steps one-by-one to show new trainees how to
carefully take bumps, protect the opponent, and get used to the ring ropes.
- Afterwards, Christian grabbed two chairs and took them into the ring. "No, no,
no, this is just wrong," Don West said as if he were reading from a script.
Rhino hit the ring and cleared Christian from the ring. He took the mic and said
Christian ran out of the ring like a little girl. Rhino said Christian ended
their friendship two weeks ago. He challenged him to a one-on-one match for No
Surrender. Rhino said he would cut Christian in half with the Gore.
- Backstage, Borash had the polygraph results from Jarrett. He said Jarrett
answered every single question from the test. Jarrett and Eric Young walked out.
Jarrett told Borash he was the first man to shake the hand of an innocent man.
He thanked Eric Young for his help for the test. He said he would take off for
six to eight months so he could train and rest up once his good name is cleared
up. Jarrett and Young walked off camera to head for the ring.
[Commercial Break]
- They aired a video package on the Ultimate X match to promote
LAX-Daniels/Styles at No Surrender.
- Jim Cornette stood center ring. He booked Christian Cage vs. Rhino in a
singles match for No Surrender. Cornette said Jarrett's been running around
claiming innocence for months regarding issues with Hebner, Zbyszko, and
Christian. He said he has the results of the polygraph test then he asked
Jarrett to come out. Jarrett walked out with a guitar, his NWA Title belt, and
Eric Young. West said Sting isn't here because he's getting prepared for Jarrett
at Bound for Glory. Cornette said that he told Jarrett that if he could prove
Jarrett is guilty of any type of non-truth, he would make his life miserable. He
said one of the big three questions was whether Jarrett acted in collusion with
Christian. Jarrett said no and the polygraph test confirmed Jarrett's answer. He
said question two was about Earl Hebner's involvement in the NWA Title switch.
He said Jarrett said no and he was telling the truth. Cornette said the third
question was about working with Larry Zbyszko to help him with NWA Title
matches. Cornette said Jarrett said no and he's a damn liar. Jarrett went blank.
Young gulped then Jarrett chased him out of the ring. Cornette said you can tell
when Jarrett is lying because his lips are moving. Cornette said he can't force
Jarrett to defend the NWA Title at No Surrender, but he can make him wrestle at
the PPV. He said he would pick out 10, 12, or 18 TNA fans a chance to get their
hands on Jarrett by giving them a thick leather strap in a lumberjack match. He
said that when Jarrett starts to run away from the ring, the fans would have
authority to whip Jarrett as much as they want. Cornette said fans from across
the country would have a chance to get even with Jarrett. He said he forgot
about Jarrett's opponent. The fans chanted, "Joe, Joe, Joe." Cornette said he
had this man standing around because he figured Jarrett was a liar. Samoa Joe's
music hit and Cornette's face turned crestfallen. Joe walked out on stage with a
strap in hand. Jarrett did the look of absolute disbelief. Joe pointed his strap
at Jarrett and smiled.
