X Title Match
(C) Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe (JOINED IN PROGRESS)
The show starts with Joe and Daniels already going at it. Joe kicks Daniels in
the face on the outside. Daniels has been busted open. Highlights are shown of
what went on before Impact came on the air. Good way to start the show to keep
people tuned in, the action already going. Back to live action now, Joe throws a
bloody Daniels into the ring. Joe continues to work over Joe with some kicks to
Daniels, who is on the mat. Daniels fights back with some shots to the gut, but
Joe kicks him and then bites him on the top of Daniels' bloody head. Daniels
fights back with some quicks, but Joe quickly interupts his comeback attempt.
Tenay announces Liger will no longer be facing Daniels at Lockdown. Joe rakes at
the bloody face of Daniels. Joe with some loud kicks and a knee drop. Joe goes
for a cover and gets 2. Joe puts on a face lock. Daniels fights to his feet and
breaks it. Daniels comes off the ropes but runs into a high knee from Joe. Tenay
and West talk about how Daniels was winning early in the match, but Joe turned
the tables and it's been all Joe since. Joe with some right hands and chops in
the corner, rapid fire. Daniels lays across the bottom rope beat up. Daniels
with some shots to the gut, but Joe quickly kicks him. Joe with more shots in
the corner. Joe charges at Daniels in the corner with a clothesline and a kick.
Joe rakes his boot across the face of Daniels in the corner. Joe charges into
the corner with a knee in the corner. Joe comes charging again, but Daniels
catches him and nails a dragon screw leg whip. Daniels charges at Joe in the
corner, but Joe catches him and throws him down to the mat. Time for our first
commercial break...
--COMMERCIAL BREAK--
Joe still is in control. Joe nails a powerbomb, then turns Daniels over into a
modified Boston Crab submission. Joe then puts on a STF, and he then turnes that
into a Crippler Crossface. Joe then with a double armbar. Daniels gets a foot on
the ropes to break the hold. Joe with more kicks. Daniels blocks a kick and
nails two enziguiris. Daniels with a STO. Daniels with a forearm shot and a
clothesline. Daniels nails a jawkbreaker using his knees. Daniels off the top
with a flying forearm. Daniels with a cover for a 2. Daniels sets Joe up on the
top. Daniels climbs up and nails a huracanrana. Daniels with a cover for another
2 count. Joe with an inverted atomic drop followed by a boot to the face. Joe
goes for a back splash, but Daniels gets his knees up. Daniels then runs right
into a powerslam from Joe. 2 count. Daniels with a sitout slam for a 2 coun.
Both men exchanges shots in the middle of the ring. Daniels with an STO. Daniels
comes off the top with the Best Moonsault Ever for a 2 count. Daniels fights
with Joe in the corner. Both men up top, Joe fights off Daniels and nails the
Island Driver from the top for the pinfall. I believe that is the first time Joe
has used the Island Driver in TNA. Excellent, excellent match. Great way to
start off their new Thursday timeslot. It's too bad the show isn't longer so we
could have seen the entire match (check out tnawrestling.com for the first 15
minutes), but I also did like the way they started the show with a hot match
already in progress to keep the UFC viewers tuned in.
Winner & New X Division Champion: Samoa Joe
-Sabu's theme comes on after the match. Joe looks on as the lights are dimmed
and Sabu's video plays.
-Jeremy Borash is backstage with Sting. He mentions Sting has challeneged Jeff
Jarrett for tonight. Sting talks about the challenge and whether Jarrett has the
guts. He says he has heard Jarrett is nervous and has been in the bathroom all
night. Sting says we'll find out who his team for Lockdown is later tonight.
--COMMERCIAL BREAK--
-Tenay and West talk from the announcing spot. Tenay builds up Lockdown briefly
and then talks with West about what is yet to come on the show. We go to an
interview that Tenay conducted earlier this week with Christian....
-Christian talks about how he realized you are giving up privacy when you do a
job such as this that is in the public eye. He then talks about hearing about
his wife being stalked by Mitchell and Abyss. Christian says he realizes
everyone is out to get him since he's the NWA World Champion, but he says his
wife never signed on for this. He says the line was crossed and he can't
describe how personal that has made this match. Highlights are shown from the
feud over the recent weeks every few seconds. Christian says this isn't just
another title defense, it's more than that because it is personal. He says his
opponents made it personal and he's never wanted to beat someone so bad.
Street Fight
NWA Tag Champs America's Most Wanted (James Storm & Chris Harris) w/ Gail Kim &
Jackie Gayda vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon)
Team 3D is now coming out with an American flag because of their feud with Team
Canada. It turns into a brawl with all the men in the ring at the beginning.
Harris and Storm are thrown into the corner and Devon and Ray both splash into
them. AMW is tossed to the outside. Jackie and Gail get in the ring and start
fighting. Gail nails her with a slap as Jackie leaves the ring. Now the
wrestlers are back in the ring as we go to commercial.
--COMMERCIAL BREAK--
Devon fights back against Harris in the ring briefly, before Harris chokes Devon
with tape. Harris takes Devon down with a clothesline. Devon then clotheslines
both members of AMW and tags in Ray. Ray cleans house with clotheslines. He
tosses them both out of the ring. All 4 men on the outside now brawling with
Team 3D. They fight all over the outside. Harris and Devon are fighting in the
crowd. Ray and Storm are now as well. It's just punches everywhere with Team 3D
on the offense. Devon tosses Harris over to the announce position and nails him
with one of the tag title belts. Devon throws Harris into the rail and nails him
with punches. Harris gets in a low blow. Devon and Storm are now back by the
ring. Ray and Storm in the ring. Storm gets in a kick but then runs into a scoop
slam. Ray holds his legs open as Devon goes up top, but Harris pushes him off
the top. Harris and Devon fight on the outside. Storm nails Devon with a
superkick. Ray tosses Storm over the top to the outside, then turns around into
a clothesline from Harris. Ray gets a back elbow in on Harris, then comes off
the middle ropes with an elbow drop but misses. Harris gets a garbage can from
Storm and nails Ray with it. AMW goes for the Death Sentence, but Ray pushes
Harris off the top to the outside. They nail a reverse 3D. Petey Williams comes
out and pulls the ref out of the ring. Team 3D yells at Petey from the ring, and
they are ambushes from behind by the rest of Team Canada. Team Canada beats the
hell out of Team 3D in the ring. Petey gets out a table from under the ring.
They set it up in the ring as the ref calls for the bell. Not much of a
wrestling match, but it was a good brawl.
Winners: No Contest
-Team Canada continues to work over 3D in the ring. Spike Dudley AKA Matt Hyson
runs out for the save. He helps Team 3D clean house. They nail the 3D on A-1
Ralphz through the table.
-The "Global Impact" segment airs, showing highlights from the TNA/UWF show in
Martinsville where the NASCAR drivers all got involved in the show.
--COMMERCIAL BREAK--
-A Sting video package airs, recapping the events in TNA the past couple months
in regards to him and building up the Lethal Lockdown match at the Lockdown PPV.
-Borash is backstage with Jarrett and his entire crew. Jarrett says he has never
backed down from a challenge. He says tonight is no different. He says he is
going to teach Sting that he should have never challenged him and should have
stayed in California. He says Sting was right in saying tonight was Showtime. He
calls over "Showtime" Eric Young and says he is going to give him the
oppurtunity of a lifetime, the chance to wrestle Sting tonight. Young looks a
little nervous, but the crew all chants his name to pump him up.West mentions
this has to be Young's worst nightmare.
Eric Young w/ Scott D'Amore vs. Sting
Young bails out of the ring right away, looking a bit scared. D'Amore tries to
pump him up as he nods his head and gets back in the ring. Sting just stands in
one place as Young circles him and jumps out of the ring again. D'Amore slaps
him and gets back in the ring. Alex Shelley comes out with his camera to film
the match. Young hesitates to lock up with Sting. He pushes Sting into the
corner but then stands back. Young with some shots and chops. Sting no sells
them, flexes, and throws Young out of the ring. Sting slingshots over the top
with a cross body taking out Young and Shelley. He throws Young into the guard
rail and does the same to Shelley. He goes for the Stinger Splash on Young, but
Young moves and Sting crashes into the guard rail.
--COMMERCIAL BREAK--
Young works over Sting with some stomps in the ring. Young chokes him across the
middle rope. D'Amore nails Sting with a shot. Young scoop slaps Sting and then
nails an elbow drop. A cover for a 2 count. Young with some punches to the head.
They exchange punches in the ring. Young rakes the eyes and then throws Sting to
the corner. He nails him with some more punches. Young whips him to the other
corner and then goes for a Stinger Splash but Sting moves. Sting kicks him,
sending Young up in the air and crotching himself on the top rope. Sting with
the Stinger Splash, but he mainly takes out D'Amore who tried to block it. Sting
nails Shelley on the apron and then hits the Scorpion Death Drop on Young and
gets the cover. A very average match, but it was cool seeing Sting wrestle on
national television again.
Winner: Sting
-Shelley attacks Sting after the match from behind. Sting quickly gets him in
the Scorpion Death Lock. Jarrett runs out with a guitar. Sting dodges the guitar
shot and nails Jarrett with some punches. Sting with a back elbow. Jarrett goes
to grab his guitar and Sting grabs his bat. Jarrett swings, but Sting blocks it
with his bat. Sting crushes the guitar. AMW runs out, as does Scott Steiner, and
they work over Sting. AJ Styles, Rhino and Ron Killings run out for the save as
Jarrett and his boys bail. Sting gets on the mic and calls Jarrett and his boys
"children" and tells them to get back to their mom and dad. He says Jarrett has
his team, and Sting says it is quite obvious that he has his, confirming the men
in the ring with him as his team. Sting tells his opponents that they'll see
them at Lockdown.
-A music video airs with highlights from tonight's show to close the show. Nice
touch.
